The Truth About Curls by Paul Mitchell (Review + GIVEAWAY)

Curls… you either love your curls or you hate them. I love mine. Well, most of the time. Each individual strand has a mind of its own. But when they work together, I love my crazy spirals.

A couple of months ago I received a package from Retail Box that made my heart skip a beat.

Paul Mitchell The Truth About Curls

This box of curl-loving gorgeousness by Paul Mitchell is a wild-haired girl’s dream. Here are my thoughts on the products … and stick around to the end as I have a surprise in store. You don’t want to miss this!

Paul Mitchell Spring Loaded Shampoo

Paul Mitchell Spring Loaded Shampoo

This shampoo is an absolute beaut. It gently cleanses my hair leaving it soft, nourished and easy to detangle. It produces a lovely rich lather that smells great. Can I get a whoop-whoop for the fact that it is sulphate free?! I wash my hair every day (I know, I know!) and I am happy to report that my hair looks and feels great. 250ml retails for R285.

Paul Mitchell Full Circle Leave In Treatment

The Truth About Curls by Paul Mitchell

The Full Circle Leave In Treatment is rich and creamy and feels very luxurious. My hair feels soft, conditioned and very supple and I highly recommend this leave-in conditioner. Tangles are a thing of the past and all frizzies are banished. 200ml retails for R295.

Paul Mitchell Ultimate Wave

Paul Mitchell Ultimate Wave

I wasn’t very keen to try Ultimate Wave at first. Usually when I spot the word ‘gel’ I tend to steer clear. Most gel products leave my curls feeling either sticky or crunchy, with no shape at all. Not a good look for me. BUT this gel-cream surprised me. No crunch, no stickiness, just beautifully shaped curls. If you use this product together with the Paul Mitchell Full Circle Leave In Treatment, you have a combination that can’t be beat. My curls are left smooth, shaped and bouncy. Ultimate Wave is great for spirals but I think it will work even better with waves. If you want the tousled, I-just-got-back-from-the-beach look, then this is the product for you. 150ml retails for R285.

Paul Mitchell Twirl Around

Paul Mitchell Twirl Around curl definer

Love, Love, Love. Twirl Around curl cream is an absolute winner in my books. It shapes my curls beautifully. They are full of life and bounce… perfectly shaped and smoothed. And it lasts the whole day. This gorgeous bottle may just be the best curl definer I have ever tried. Paul Mitchell Twirl Around… for perfectly shaped and healthy-looking spirals and waves that will get heads turning. 150ml retails for R320.

All of these products are available on Retail Box.

  1. When I was younger I had the most amazing curls, but after 2 kids they’ve all but disappeared.

Nothing I have used have brought them back to life, right now they look so sad!

  2. I love my curls. I literally cannot imagine not having my curls. They do ask for some extra attention to stay in place, but I don’t mind as there are now so many great products out there to take care of the wildness that it is a breeze.

  3. Such a cool giveaway. I have natural curls, but not any natural curls, and to top it off, I’m a natural blonde, so if you know blondes, with curls, you will know, our hair is also naturally dry, and untamed. The thing is, most days, I really hate my curls, and I’d rather wear it back in a bun, than to let it loose. My ex husband use to tell people I have a “Jesus perm”, yes, that is how badly my hair curls. I would love to, for once, just embrace them, wear them with pride, tamed, and looking amazing. Thank you, and fingers crossed. xoxo

  4. I usually have my hair pulled up so don’t show off my waves. They look nice for about 5 minutes and then they just look messy. Need some defining without the stickiness.

  5. Lots of people say that they love my curls, but they hardly see them because when I leave my hair natural I feel really insecure that I look ridiculous :( I look in the mirror and just see frizz. I wish they were more controlled and smooth.

  6. In high school, I actually use to flat iron my curls straight every single day and it wasn’t until I met my husband three years ago that I actually started to fall in love with my curls and started really embracing them everyday!

  7. I don’t like my curls at all! I don’t know what I would do without my ghd. I have tried a lot of products but none seem to work . really hoping I can get to try these products out. They sound amazing!!

  8. I actually hate my curls :( I am convinced that I have the worlds curliest curls – I have no idea how to manage them properly so my hair always needs to be straighted out. I would love to try curly hair products but am not sure what would best suit my hair type.
