SVR Sun Secure Optical Blur Mousse Cream

I’ve reviewed a few SVR products before and I am definitely a fan of the brand. But this product bowled me over completely…

best make-up primer - SVR Sun Secure Optical Blur Mousse Cream

SVR sent me this bright orange tube of SPF50 sunscreen to try and I was happy to accept the offer. My experience with the brand has been good and the South African sun forces us to wear a potent sunscreen. So, is it a good sunscreen? Yes, it does the job. But why did I say that it bowled me over?

BECAUSE THIS IS THE BEST MAKE-UP PRIMER I HAVE EVER USED.

I hardly ever use a make-up primer. I’ve never found one that I felt was truly worth the expense. Most primers are damn expensive. At least the ones that most beauty addicts swear by. But the SVR Sun Secure Optical Blur Mousse Cream is absolutely amazing!

When I received the product, I didn’t realise that it’s actually a hybrid product; it is both a make-up base and sun protection.

The soft mousse cream melts into the skin leaving it feeling soft and velvety. It really does blur imperfections, smooth the complexion and it helps to minimise the look of your pores. Foundation glides onto your skin and lasts the whole day. I’ve used this product with my Revlon Colorstay and Vichy Dermablend foundations and it works perfectly with both. SVR Sun Secure Optical Blur Mousse Cream also looks amazing on your skin when worn on its own.

This product is suitable for all skin types and I can vouch for that. My skin goes a little crazy with change of season and went from slightly dry to oily in a matter of days. This baby performed well throughout. I also went for a Biomedical Emporium peel recently and even though there is no downtime after this peel (post coming soon!), I did experience a little flaking. The SVR Sun Secure Optical Blur Mousse Cream hid it very well.

So, how much do you think you will have to fork out for this fabulous SPF50 and make-up primer in one… R250!

Only R250 for 50ml of the best make-up primer I have ever used. Get yours at Clicks. I will be stocking up too.

My Summer Saviour: Bioderma Photoderm MAX SPF50+ Aquafluide

It’s hot. Damn, Cape Town. Enough now.

This summer, more than ever before, I’ve made sure never to go in the sun without wearing a good sunscreen. I have been wearing Photoderm Max Aquafluide SPF 50+ a lot.

What makes it special? Bioderma Photoderm offers very high sun protection that is suitable for all skin types, including oily and sensitive. The emulsion has an ultra-light texture and a dry touch finish.

Bioderma Photoderm Max Aquafluide SPF 50+ review Pretty Please Charlie

The “oil free” emulsion is optimised by a complex consisting of 3 powders with matifying properties, and concealing agents for a matt and powdery finish. Cellular Bioprotection® preserves the skin’s immunity, cellular integrity and combats the premature ageing of the skin.

Photoderm is also hypoallergenic, non comedogenic, fragrance free, paraben free and water resistant.

Aquafluide comes in 3 variants – not tinted, light tint and golden tint.

I’m using both the clear and lightly tinted versions.  Both have saved my skin many times over the holidays and it continues to do so. We’re going away this weekend and we will be spending most of it outside by the pool. Photoderm is top of my list of what to pack.

I wear the tinted one instead of foundation on days that I don’t want to wear a full face of make-up, but also don’t want to go bare. The coverage is not bad at all, and if set with powder it lasts well.

The product itself is very light and it spreads easily. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling suffocated at all.

Photoderm really does have a matte finish and I highly recommend you give it a try if you struggle with oily skin. I find that the tinted version can be a teensy bit tacky once applied, but as I’ve mentioned, I powder over it and then the finish is perfect.

Photoderm Max Aquafluide SPF 50+ retails for R199.

Two thumbs up Bioderma.

xoxo
