Vichy Capital Soleil Hydrating Milk and BB Cream review

Summer is sorted. Why? Because we now have Vichy Capital Soleil Hydrating Milk SPF50+. This gorgeous sun protection cream has a SPF 50+ and is suitable for even the most sensitive skin types and can be applied to the face and body. It’s water resistant, hypoallergenic, fragrance and paraben free. I’ve tried it on myself and Cara’s delicate skin and we had no reaction. It absorbs quickly, leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth and leaves no greasiness behind. It just feels like a great moisturiser. According to Vichy it offers stem cell protection and protects against sun spots and sun induced wrinkles. If you want a healthy glow without the damage, this is the product you want. This massive tube retails for R399. I really think that a great price as this should last you all summer. Did I mention that it comes in a huge 300ml tube?! I was very excited to try the two Vichy BB creams. I’m not a huge fan of BB creams as I prefer a bit more coverage, but who can say no to optimal protection whilst having a beautiful glow when you’re by the pool? Vichy offers two variations – BB Tinted Velvety Cream SPF 50+ for normal to dry skin and BB Tinted Dry Touch Face Fluid SPF 50 for combination to oily skins. They retail for R279. Both products come in a natural tan shade, contains a SPF 50, provides a beautiful glow to the skin and evens out your skin tone. I have been using the BB Tinted Velvety Cream and it gives my skin an immediate glow (like...

TanOrganic Self Tanning Oil Review

I posted about this tanning oil a couple of weeks ago as I had a little sample to try out and it blew me away. I was very happy with the results as this is the first self-tanning product that I have found that I do not have a terrible reaction to. My eczema does not like the chemicals in self-tan. Have a look at my previous post HERE to learn more about this organic self-tanning brand and why my skin is so happy with it. The fabulous people from TanOrganic then sent me a full size Tanning Oil!! I usually struggle with my eczema as soon as the weather becomes warmer as my flare-ups are more frequent in summer. This weekend I decided to bite the bullet and try it even though my skin is not 100% clear. Please note that I do not have weaping or infected eczema. I would not recommend any type of cosmetic product in those severe cases! My skin just tends to get very itchy, red and extremely dry. The instructions say to apply the product to cleansed and moisturised skin. I did a head to toe exfoliation and then applied Lipidol’s After Shower Oil. I gave that a while to completely absorb and then I used my hands to work in the tanning oil. It was super quick and simple. Because it’s an oil, I found it very easy to spread the product evenly. I just made sure to apply a little less on the areas that tend to be a bit drier and where self-tan tends to easily ‘show’… elbows, ankles, knees,...

Lipidol Reviews

A while ago I did a quick Brand Focus on Lipidol post and I promised the individual reviews. So here they are… Cleansing Face Oil I love using oils to pre-cleanse my skin especially if I have a lot of make-up to remove. You first apply the oil to your dry skin and give it a good massage. The oil, dirt and make-up binds with the cleansing oil. Then you add a bit of water and continue to massage. The oil emulsifies which allows you to easily rinse off the product and all the grime goes down the drain with it. I like using the cleansing oil in this way, but I love using it as a morning cleanse. It leaves my skin feeling clean, but not stripped. I like that you don’t feel any residue on your skin after rinsing. I don’t recommend using it to remove eye make-up, but I don’t like using any form of oil to do that. So that’s up to you. I think this is a great facial cleansing oil and I don’t think you’ll find anything to match it in this price range. Overnight Face Oil* Face oils are great at night, especially during the drier months. I have been using this oil for a couple of weeks on nights that I feel my skin needs a little extra care. My skin feels soothed as soon as I apply it and my skin looks and feels great the next morning. I can see myself using this every night during winter. Take note that a little goes a loooong way. I tend to use...

TanOrganic – finally a self-tan that I can use!

I am pale. And not the pretty kind of pale. I have lots of moles and freckles (and age spots on my shins *insert ugly cry*) and when it’s cold, I can actually look purple. The only way to get some colour on my skin is too bake in the sun. Not the best option, but I’m allergic to self-tan. I’ve even consulted a dermatologist and they just suggested that I steer clear. I have tried many (many!) self tanning products in my life, but I have had terrible reactions to them all. It’s probably due to a chemical ingredient in these tanners. Last summer I tried a drugstore lotion that contains a gradual tanner in the hopes that I can get some colour before having to put on a bather. What a disaster. My eczema flared up so badly that I had no other option but to treat it with cortisone. My skin even reacted badly in places that I have never had eczema before. It was horrible. Then I heard about TanOrganic a couple of months ago. I wanted to get excited, but I was worried that the same would happen. TanOrganic has this to say about their products: Streak Free Tan. Perfect Fade due to its nourishing moisturising qualities. No perfume or fragrance and especially no “fake tan” smell. No parabens, toxic preservatives or artificial drying agents. Ingredients are 99.6% natural ingredients. The world’s first and only Eco-certified self-tanning brand. Ethically made, Environmentally Friendly & PETA approved I e-mailed TanOrganic to find out more. Janine e-mailed me back and had this to say: ‘A big difference with TanOrganic is that it is all natural,...

Sun safety with Justine Solartec

Justine’s new suncare range, Solartec Skincare, was launced on 1 September and the range contains all the products you need to protect against the harsh summer rays. ‘Put your best face forward this summer with the new Solartec Age Defence for Face formulated with the advanced SolarTec-3 Technology and a blend of six botanical extracts.’ This range is said to prevent sun damage with UVA / UVB protection, repair 50% of existing cell damage in just 24hours and it protects against free radicals caused by the sun. Solartec Skincare Age Defence for Age SPF30 is a light weight cream that instantly absorbs into the skin. It doesn’t leave any greasy residue and my skin is left with a pretty glow. I think this product will be perfect for all skin types. Normal price – R240 for 75ml. Solartec Skincare Body Lotion contains a SPF40 and is a water resistant formula. It is not too thick and it doesn’t feel heavy or too greasy on my skin. It did leave a bit of a white sheen and tackiness behind for a little while, but I presume that is because it is water resistant. Once fully absorbed it felt very comfortable on my skin and the tackiness disappeared completely. Normal price – R245 for 125ml. Solartec Skincare Active Sun Protection Spray SPF50 is my favourite product from the range. It comes in an aerosol spray can and the product comes out as a watery foam. It spreads very well and my skin is left feeling smooth and soft with a beautiful sheen. It doesn’t feel like a sunscreen at all; just...
