The Slender Challenge: 6 week weigh-in

I hit the half way mark of the Slender Challenge and it’s been tough. This challenge is not easy. Well, has losing weight ever been easy?! I’ve had my fair share of cravings and temptations and it’s been hard, but I have stuck to the plan (as best I could at times) and I am so happy with my results. I had my 6 week weigh-in on Friday, and… 14 kgs down in 6 weeks!! Can you believe it?! I sometimes can’t. It’s been hard work, and I still have at least 10 kgs to go, but I feel great. And I don’t look too bad either, if I do say so myself. I had to go jeans shopping this morning as my current pairs look horrible om me. 6 weeks ago they were too snug and extremely uncomfortable. Now they are almost falling off! I want to thank Body Renewal for the Slender Challenge and for the chance to change my life. This time WILL be the last time! Here’s a quick recap of the program I’m following: Body Renewal Weight Loss Program It is a medical weight loss program which specifically targets abnormal and resistant fat, which results in slimming and shaping of the body. A highly professional team lead by a medical doctor assesses every patient. In this consultation your medical history will be evaluated. The doctor will then decide whether any blood tests are necessary. A team of registered nurses supports each patient in their weight loss journey to ensure the best results are obtained. The program is based on improving sensitivity to Leptin and...

The Slender Challenge: Weigh in #1

Just a quick recap… I am taking part in the Slender Challenge #8 sponsored by Health Renewal. Why? Because I am fat again… but not for long! The Slender Challenge: Weigh in #1 I had my first weigh in on Saturday morning and I am down 6.2kgs in 2 weeks. I feel good. 10 weeks (and many, many kilo’s) to go. Stay tuned as I will give you an update every 2 weeks. Next weigh in is on 27/08. Why the Slender Challenge? I need to be pushed. I need to be kept an eye on. I need the support of others fighting the same battle. This is exactly what this challenge is giving me. Plus there’s a huge prize up for grabs. Why the Body Renewal Weight Loss Program? It is a medical weight loss program which specifically targets abnormal and resistant fat, which results in slimming and shaping of the body. A highly professional team lead by a medical doctor assesses every patient. In this consultation your medical history will be evaluated. The doctor will then decide whether any blood tests are necessary. A team of registered nurses supports each patient in their weight loss journey to ensure the best results are obtained. The program is based on improving sensitivity to Leptin and has four components: a low GI diet Weight loss supplements / nutraceuticals in the form of capsules and powder, a daily meal replacement with a low GI health shake Daily injections of a lipotropic substance (HCG) that targets and releases abnormal fat in the body. If the program is strictly adhered to patients lose between...

Why I am fat… again

Those words were quite hard to type. I can’t believe I am here again. Fat. If this is something that you are not interested in, kindly move a long. The reason I am sharing this, is to hold myself accountable and to share my journey for those of you who find themselves feeling fat, ugly and hopeless. Perhaps this post will help you not feel quite so alone in your struggles. I’ve struggled with my weight most of my life. I gained a lot of weight during and after my pregnancy and I finally really did something about in 2014 and I lost a lot of weight. Read about it HERE. I just reread that post myself and I still can’t really believe what I have done to myself. I was happy, healthy, moderately fit and happy with the way I looked. Then… In February 2015 I landed up in hospital and had to undergo spinal surgery. That meant that I was on my back for 8 weeks. It also meant that I was no longer allowed to run or do boot camp. I was also not allowed to pick up my child or vacuum the house. I am still not really supposed to be doing most of those things. My heart was broken. And what do I do when my heart is sore? I eat. And today I have regained all of the weight I lost in 2014 and more! Over the last year I have tried to lose weight many times. All unsuccessful. And every time something ‘bad’ happened, I would head to the fridge. This has...

9 Signs Of Emotional Eating

My name is Charlene and I am an emotional eater. I eat when I’m sad. I eat when I’m stressed. I eat when I’m happy. Hell, I even eat when I’m just plain bored. And I definitely eat instead of facing my problems. This, along with a few other contributing factors, has resulted that I am back where I was 2 years ago. But more on that in another post… Today I share an article I found on Skin Online. I would love to hear how you feel about this subject. 9 Signs Of Emotional Eating We all know that eating is not just about survival, it is about savouring flavours, colours, texture, and presentation, but it can also be about your emotional state of mind. Food is used by many as a form of escape, especially when stressed, emotional , tired , depressed and the list could go on and on. The repercussions of emotional eating often result in many a health problem, notwithstanding the packing on of unwanted weight. Here are 9 signs that you may be an emotional eater: 1. You eat whenever stressed no matter what time of day. 2. You eat as a response to your emotions i.e. you eat when you are happy , you eat when you are sad and you even eat when you are bored or frustrated. 3. You seek comfort in food, feeling as though food will make it ‘aall better’. 4. Your eating get’s out of control and as a result you eat continually. 5. You become obsessed and fascinated with food. 6. You use emotionally charged language to...

Are you ready to go from Fat 2 Fit? Then this challenge is for YOU!

The best decision I’ve made in a very long time was to join A New Weigh’s Fat 2 Fit Challenge last year. No idea what I’m on about? Check out my post HERE and read about how I lost 15.6kg / 34.4lb in only 12 weeks. I have no words to express my gratitude to Gaelyn and all the girls who did the challenge with me. It was life changing. The next challenge starts on the 19th and if you need to make a change, I highly recommend that you give it a go. I asked Gaelyn to share a bit of her story and why this challenge is proving to be a huge success: ‘I have always been “big”. In high school my emotional eating started, which led to massive secret binges. I slowly started putting on weight, and should actually have bee a lot bigger than I was – but luckily two provincial sports (synchro and water polo) saved me, and I managed to stay just a little overweight and not obese. That only came once I finished school and started working as a paramedic, with less time to train and exercise, and a highly stressful job where take away is the norm. In 2011 I started a new fitness regime and diet, and slowly started losing weight, but that is when my compartment syndrome started and I was quickly off my feet and in for surgery. When that didn’t go well, I was incredibly depressed and stayed away from any form of exercise – it all hurt and made me face my newfound disability.  After my third surgery...

How I lost 15.6kg / 34.4lb in only 12 weeks – My #F2FChallenge journey

I struggled a bit with the title of this post. I had a few options: ‘How I finally lost my pregnancy weight’. My little girl is almost 4… about time, hey?   ‘I won the #F2FChallenge’. YES! I won! But I don’t really like this one, because I think every single girl who took part in this challenge is a winner.   ‘How I got ‘me’ back… a weight loss journey’. Not a bad one, but I needed the title to make you sit up and listen. A New Weigh deserves the attention.   ‘How I lost 15kg / 34lb by eating pizza’. Yes, you read that correctly… pizza! The A New Weigh approved ‘pizza’ was my go-to meal during this challenge and it’s damn good. Guess what I’m having for supper tonight??   The A New Weigh Fat 2 Fit Challenge is a weight-loss and fitness challenge that provides you with an eating plan, an exercise plan and amazing support. The eating plan works for me 100%. I get to eat a variety of foods and I really like that. I have tried many other eating plans, but I could never stick to it. I like that I get to eat protein, starch and fruit & veg. You even get the opportunity to occasionally have some dessert. I have a terrible sweet tooth, but I didn’t have dessert once during this challenge. I just didn’t feel like it and that is because I ate good food and I felt satisfied. Clean eating for the win! The exercise plan is especially handy if you don’t already exercise. It is...
