Ben Wei – Sushi at its best. Trust me.

‘If sushi and Asian cuisine is your thing, look no further.‘ That statement got me curious (and hungry). According to the invitation to experience Ben Wei, people are saying that this new restaurant is serving the best sushi in Cape Town. So how could I say no?! Ben Wei, meaning “Original Taste”, recently opened its doors at the highly popular Wembley Square centre in Gardens, Cape Town. This new eatery offers a variety of sushi, Thai curies and Chinese dishes, amongst some other original culinary delights. Ben Wei is owned by chef Jim Dai and entrepreneur Ian McMahon, and is open Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner. So what makes it so special?  Apart from a unique spin on these familiar dishes made with the freshest fish and ingredients, the extensive, vintage designed menu even includes Banting and vegetarian options. Carefully selected wines available will perfectly complement any order and satisfy the most distinguished palates. Think sushi or Asian food, and brace yourself to be pleasantly surprised. Ben Wei – Sushi at its best Last Saturday I dragged a oh-so-willing friend along to try a little Ben Wei sushi. I say a little, but I mean A LOT. Even though the menu includes many dishes that sound and look divine (I will still go back for some Thai green curry), all we wanted was sushi. And, oh my word, we were not disappointed. Look at this: I’m no foodie and I don’t use words like ambrosial or gustatory when it comes to food (yes, I just Googled those), but I do know what tastes good and this was it. We were...

Body Worlds Vital is heading to Cape Town

I am so excited that the BODY WORLDS Vital exhibition is on its way to Cape Town. I didn’t go the last time the exhibition was here and my friends could not stop talking about it. I am not missing it this time. BODY WORLDS is the most successful touring exhibition of all time and it has attracted more than 40 million visitors in over 100 cities worldwide. BODY WORLDS VITAL 2016 BODY WORLDS Vital is a new chapter in the BODY WORLDS series. The previous exhibition focussed on the ageing process, whilst Vital will be focusing how our lifestyle choices affect our health and vitality as well as the effects of certain major chronic diseases on the body. More than 180 anatomical specimens of real human bodies show us how sophisticated, yet fragile, our bodies really are. “Body Worlds (Vital) really brings every man face to jarring face with his own mortality: it shows us that, at cellular and molecular level, we are all a complex assemblage of bones, muscles, blood vessels, nerves and other tissue: a humbling thought,” says the Financial Mail’s Christina Kennedy.  Proudly presented by Discovery, this unique exhibition celebrates the wonder, resilience and fragility of the human body. The exhibition will be running from 9 August to 23 October 2016 at the Watershed at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Book now at www.bodyworldsvital.co.za and get a detailed look at the human body’s keenly intelligent design, explore how it functions, and see what happens when disease strikes. Fresh, organic veggies grown locally now available in Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs

I received word this morning that Harvest of Hope is now bringing their fresh produce to my valley as well. I am definitely going to give this service a go. Who can say no to fresh, organically grown veggies at amazing prices? Plus even more employment opportunities have now been created and more farmers have a permanent source of income. Sounds like an amazing project to be a part of.  Visit the Harvest of Hope website HERE to sign up and get your fresh greens. Harvest of Hope, iNkosi Eco Lodge and Abalimi Bezekhaya partner with Green Monday South Africa to now provide organically-grown veggies in Northern Suburbs Abalimi Bezekhaya has partnered with Green Monday South Africa, a new initiative launched by Humane Society International (HSI) that aims to improve animal welfare, human health and environmental sustainability. Green Monday encourages consumers to leave meat, dairy and eggs off their plates for one day a week, and replace it with delicious plant-based alternatives.   To help the Northern Suburbs take part in this fun and delicious movement, Harvest of Hope (HoH) will now also be offering fresh, organically-grown veggies to consumers living in the Durbanville and De Tyger areas once a week (on Tuesdays). Harvest of Hope already provides this popular service to a variety of other suburbs in Cape Town. Veggie lovers in the Northern Suburbs can now order and collect their fresh weekly greens at iNkosi Eco Lodge, who has also joined the Green Monday movement. {Review} Juliette Armand Skin Booster Thavma Therapy Treatment at Legs eleven Green Point

A couple of weeks ago I received an invitation to experience a Juliette Armand Skin Booster Thavma Anti-Wrinkle Therapy Treatment at Legs eleven in Green Point.  First of all, I would never say no to an opportunity to experience a product or treatment by Juliette Armand. Love this brand. I have posted about them before HERE, HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. This opportunity was even more enticing as Legs eleven is the first salon in Cape Town to launch the Juliette Armand Skin Boosters Thavma Therapy Treatment which is said to be a revolutionary anti-wrinkle solution without the use of injections. This was my first time visiting Legs eleven and I can’t wait to visit them again. A beautiful salon with a lovely and relaxing atmosphere. Read more about the services on offer HERE. On to the treatment.  Many products and treatments promise you the world, but they do not always deliver. That’s a fact. So I can’t be blamed if I was a bit sceptical that the result of this treatment would really be skin that shows improved firmness, hydration, texture and tone PLUS show visible reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Stay tuned… Below are the key steps of this treatment as provided by Legs eleven. I have to use their words, as I was too relaxed to take it all in on the day. The therapist from Juliette Armand provided a treatment that was both highly effective and a relaxing treat. Step 1: The peel – A mild superficial combination glycolic and salicyclic acid peel is applied to the skin. This resurfaces the skin, stimulating cell renewal and allows improved penetration...
