‘Chemical Peels are excellent’ – dermaPro Clinical Care

I was thrilled to find a voucher for a skin peel in our #CPTBloggerMeet goodie bag in January and I finally got a chance to go and experience it a couple of weeks ago.

A peel is a process where a chemical solution is applied to the skin and this will cause the top layers of the skin to peel away to reveal healthier and newer skin. This type of treatment is ideal for treating wrinkles, blemishes & pigmentation.

I have been for peels before. And I know that they work. I did a series of peels years ago and my skin improved so much – my pores appeared smaller, my skin looked smoother and brighter and I had less fines lines and the deeper wrinkles were a bit less noticeable. And then I had to stop. It just became a bit too expensive. But my skin looked great on my wedding day!

I visited dermaPro about three weeks ago and this was my experience:

Firstly, the gorgeous Safia Ramjan (a medically certified and licensed aesthetician) asked me a series of questions as she wanted to know exactly why I wanted a peel and what I expected from the procedure. Then she walked me through it and also explained the after-care system offered. Before I get to the peel itself… the aftercare products that are offered look amazing. These are products that contain ingredients that really work. I’m talking medical grade stuff here. Proper after and home care is essential to the end results that you want to achieve.

The procedure was completely different to the peels I have experienced before. I received the rejuvenating micro peel. I was a bit surprised when Safia directed me to a chair, covered me in towels and got to work. The other peels I had were done in your typical spa ‘soft lighting-and-pan flute music’ type setting. Not that those elements really made you feel more comfortable; it is a peel after all. Safia cleansed my skin and applied the peel. She asked me if I was comfortable and I was. On a scale from 1 to 10, I experience the ‘discomfort’ as a 4. It was tingly and felt a bit itchy. Just as was ready to sit back and relax, Safia removed the peel. I was quite surprised at that stage as I was used to a peel being a rather unpleasant experience that lasted at least 10 – 15 minutes. This peel only stayed on for 2. It was awesome! That means that you can literally go for a peel during your lunch hour as you will be in and out in 15 minutes. And my skin looked great afterwards. No redness at all. My mom commented twice that evening on how my skin glowed.

For a couple of days after the peel, my skin felt a bit rough and it peeled a bit on my chin, but that was it. My skin really looked beautifully radiant.

As I have experience with peels, I can tell you with the utmost confidence that these peels are worth it and that you will see results. And dermaPro’s peels are the most affordable that I have seen – the Rejuvenating micro-peel (30-50% glycolic acid) goes for R165 and that is less than I paid for the peels I went for over 6 years ago.

I highly recommend you go for a consultation. I am very eager to book a series of the 70% glycolic peels.

Safia is based in Edgemead and you can visit her website for more details.
