New Eucerin UreaRepair Plus

Eucerin is one of my favourite skincare brands. I have used quite a few of their facial products and they are all top notch. I am a bit new to their bodycare products as, let’s be honest, they are not exactly cheap. But in this post I am going to tell you why the new Eucerin UreaRepair Plus range is worth its weight in gold. If not more! New Eucerin UreaRepair Plus If you have sensitive, very dry or eczema-prone skin like I do, please take note: this range is life changing. Budget Beauty for Busy Moms: Body Care

I used to always have perfectly painted toes and smooth legs. I have fond memories of those days. Now time and budget is allocated a little differently. I’m not complaining, but it would be nice to have a little more me-time (and me-money). I think most moms are in the same boat. I thought I’d share my favourite body care budget buys and tips with you today. Also working on skincare and make-up… Budget Beauty for Busy Moms: Body Care First up is Cara’s body cream that turned out to be my favourite too. Epi-max is a wonderful brand that offer lotions and creams perfect for sensitive, dry and eczema-prone skins. I posted about their range HERE. A pot goes for about R60 and they are often on special at Clicks. Can I get a ‘hell yeah’ for Clicks’ 3 for 2 promotions?! Epi-max has a new look, so keep an eye out. Another great brand that I rediscovered a couple of months ago, is Dawn. You can’t get more budget-friendly than this. I’m talking under R20. They have a great selection of body lotions and creams and it works. Plus you pop it in your trolley when you do grocery shopping. Bonus. If you are not a fan of body cream, or you just don’t have the energy or time to apply it from head to toe every day, you can go for a moisturing body wash. Dove has great options that will leave your skin silky soft and smooth after your shower. And it won’t break the bank. Another favourite of mine is the Lipidol Cleansing Body Oil. This may...

Beauty: My favourite favourites of 2015

My sister often gets upset with me when I tell her about a product that I love. ‘But you said that one is your favourite?!’ She likes to give me the third degree. I try not to use the word favourite too often when talking about the things I love as there is just too many. There are a few products and services that stood out last year, so I have decided to share my favourite favourites of 2015 with you today. Let’s jump right in… Dermaceutic Mask 15 (and pretty much everything from this brand) If I had to choose just one skincare brand to use for the rest of my life, chances are that Dermaceutic will come up tops. I have raved about Mask 15 many times and I am still amazed by the results. Every. Single. Time. You can read my thoughts on the mask HERE. I have also been using Activ Retinol 1.0 and Turn Over. I will be posting a review on these two shortly. Keep an eye out as these products are amazing. REN Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial Want to wake up with smooth, bright, fresh-looking skin? Then this product is a must have. I love it. Pop over to read my full review HERE. BABOR New Skin Fluids Ampoule Concentrates FP Love. That is what it is. I used these ampules when I started at home derma rolling and my skin loves it. This product is definitely one of the top 5 best skincare products that I have ever used. Visible results almost instantly. Fresh-looking, plump and radiant skin. I would use these ampoules...

There’s urea in my body lotion?

Over the holidays a friend of mine asked me why I recommend creams containing urea for very dry and eczema-prone skin. I was reminded of a post I wrote on the subject for Beauty Bulletin a couple of years ago and thought it wise to repost it here; in case you have ever wondered exactly what urea is and why you may see this ingredient on the packaging of some of your favourite body creams and lotions. Urea. Isn’t there urea in your urine?  Most people cringe when they see this ingredient on their body lotion/cream packaging. Not to worry ladies. The urea in your cream is a manufactured chemical. Its chemical name iscarbonyldiamide. Urea is naturally present in healthy skin cells and it helps to maintain the skin’s moisture level. When your skin is dry, a cream containing urea can increase the water content of the skin whilst preventing water loss – thus your skin will become plumped up and supple. Urea also helps to get rid of dead skin cells. Because of this particular benefit, an urea cream can work like a charm on those very rough areas like your elbows and heels. Both my daughter and I have eczema, and our dermatologist has recommended that we use body creams containing urea. In my research for this post, I have found out exactly why it is recommended: ‘Urea has been medically proven in various clinical studies to have extraordinary anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties that promotes fast healing of dry cracked split skin, eczema, psoriasis, rashes, acne, burns and other types of problem skin.’ – www.skinremedies.com Creams containing...

Pure Beginnings Fun Time Bubble Bath Review

Every little girl and boy deserves bubbles. What’s more fun than a bath filled with millions of bubbles (for young and old)? It sucks that Cara has sensitive, eczema-prone skin and hardly ever has a bubble bath. I’ve seen Pure Beginnings products in pharmacies and online and I have been tempted to try the bubble bath, but I’ve never gotten around to it. Then Cara received a surprise parcel on Friday. My little girl and I enjoyed 3 bubble-filled baths over the weekend. ‘Pure Beginnings Organic Skin Care believes in keeping your skin as pure as the day you were born by providing effective, organically formulated skin care products that care for you and your family’s skin, and are not harmful to the environment giving you peace of mind from the beginning.’ Pure Beginnings Fun Time Bubble Bath is an absolute treat and perfect for sensitive skins. Both Cara and myself suffer from eczema so I have to be very wary of the bath and body products we use. This bubble bath left us feeling soft, smooth and squeaky clean (without the squeak). And there was no negative reaction. Cara had millions of bubbles to play with and they lasted very well. Pretty great as the product does not contains SLS. The scent of Fun Time Bubble Bath is lovely – a delightful combination of citrus, geranium and ylang-ylang. I am in love and so is Cara. Pure Beginnings Fun Time Bubble Bath retails for R61.50 and is available at Baby City, Wellness Warehouse and selected online and health stores. Visit Pure Beginnings HERE to learn more about their...
