Naturalmente shampoo & conditioner review

The lovely people from Faithful to Nature saw my plight and sent me a couple of samples of hair products to try. Quick recap: my naturally curly and dry hair have endured many a highlighting session and that has resulted in crunchy, strawy hair that just looks horrible.

Naturalmente shampoo & conditioner

The first samples I tried were from Naturalmente. If you don’t know the brand, here is a quick intro:

‘Naturalmente offers a range of natural, organic and eco-friendly plant-based products – hair to body, baby to home – using natural best choice ingredients from the botanical kingdom. Naturalmente products are free of petrochemical by-products and synthetic substances, and are not tested on animals. Best for your wellbeing and best for our earth!’

Naturalmente Fennel & Geranium Shampoo

The natural ingredients in this shampoo have the following benefits:

Fennel Normalising, soothing, revitalising effects

Geranium Conditioning, anti-aging effects

Lavender Purifies scalp, heals, prevents hair loss

Chamomile Prevents allergies, soothing, calming

Lemon Stimulates, refreshes

Sage Anti-inflammatory, balances excessive perspiration

This shampoo is hands down the best shampoo that I have used to date. Really. It cleans my hair effectively, without leaving my hair feeling stripped. The condition of my hair has improved so much since using this shampoo. My hair feels super soft after I rinse the shampoo and I can feel that the softness is not because of something coating my hair giving the illusion of soft, healthy hair… it’s actually my hair that feels that way. My hair looks and feels so much healthier when I’ve styled it and my curls form beautifully. And I’ve had these curls for long enough to know when a product truly makes a difference.  This product is worth every cent.

Naturalmente Yoghurt & Millet Conditioner

The natural ingredients in this conditioner have the following benefits:

Mint Calms itchiness, neutralises infections

Lemon Stimulating, refreshing effects

Eucalyptus Anti-viral, kills germs

Jojoba oil Nourishes, gives shine

This conditioner is lovely. My comb glides through my hair when applied and my hair is left feeling soft and smooth after I rinse. It also doesn’t leave any coating or build-up on my hair.

I am really so impressed with this brand and I can’t wait to try more of their products. I badly want to try the Fennel & Geranium Deep Hydrating Conditioner and I am very curious to see if my curls would like the Styling Mousse. I am really intrigued by the idea of an all natural mousse.

You can purchase Naturalmente products on-line at Faithful to Nature. By warned: this website has so many beautiful products! My wishlist is a mile long.

Buchulife Derm-Active Moisturising Cream

A couple of weeks ago I received the Buchulife Derm-Active Moisturising Cream.  I’ve heard of this local brand before, but this is the first time that I’ve tried one of their products.

Buchulife Derm-Active Moisturising Cream

Cov RGB to CMYK USM Hard setting FEB 2011On the pot it says that Buchu Oil is known to help improve skin affected by scarring, stretch marks and signs of ageing.

‘Quercitin is a powerful antioxidant, natural anti-histamine and anti-inflammatory.’This made me very keen to try this cream on my hands. During change of season my skin is particularly sensitive and my eczema tends to flare up. My hands really suffer as they become very dry and the skin can crack and I have to watch what I apply as some creams can make the condition worse and even burn my skin. To my delight, this cream has been a life saver. My skin soaks it up and my hands feel soft and smooth and the discomfort associated with my eczema is forgotten. What I particularly love is the fact that the cream is incredibly moisturising and rich, but not at all greasy. I can feel the cream doesn’t just sit on my skin. My skin even looks better after application. I have also tried the cream as an all over body moisturiser and it works like a charm on dry patches. I have also used it a couple of times as a night cream when my face needed some extra TLC. I have woken up with soft, smooth and less irritated skin as a result.

The only negative is the smell. I don’t like any heavily scented creams, and the distinctive scent of this cream is one I’m not fond of. The only words I can think of to describe it is ‘herbal’ or ‘medicinal’. Lucky for me the scent does not linger and disappears once the cream is absorbed.

The cream comes in a 250ml pot and retails for R60. I think that’s peanuts for a product that has a multitude of uses and it is a product that I will definitely purchase for myself. And my gran and dad will each be getting a pot as well.

Check out their website here and visit their Facebook page for more info on their products and stockists. More products worth taking a look at are Buchulife’s first aid gel, oral supplements and sparkling water.
