Moroccanoil. Does it deserve its cult status??

Moroccanoil. I don’t think it’s possible to find a beauty lover who has not at least heard of this brand. I have finally gotten a chance to try this Argan infused hair care range and I couldn’t wait to see if it truly deserves its cult status. I have tried a few cult beauty products that have left me wanting. Does Moroccanoil truly live up to the hype? The answer is YES, YES, YES. The quality, the scent, the packaging, the results. I can find little fault. Here are reviews of the products a gave a test drive.

Moroccanoil Extra Volume Shampoo is an extremely lightweight formula that is free from sulphates, phosphates and parabens and infused with a host of ingredients to nourish, protect and plump. It is a very ‘water loving’ formula and foams beautifully. It works best if you add a little bit of water at a time and form a good lather before applying it to your hair. It leaves my hair feeling soft and manageable, clean but not stripped and it gives great shine. R270

Moroccanoil Extra Volume Conditioner is just as lightweight as the shampoo which makes it great for normal hair types. Just as the shampoo, it is also infused with Tilicine (and other ingredients) which penetrates the hair and plump up the cuticle from the inside out. It is recommended for fine or limp hair. Even though it made my hair soft and manageable and helped a great deal to detangle, I think I need a conditioner with a bit more oomph (for these super dry and damaged tresses). I think it should be great for normal and even oily hair types. R295

Moroccanoil Hydrating Mask is designed for fine, dry hair which makes it perfect for me. This isn’t just a thick conditioner (which I find some masks to be). It is recommended that you use it only once or twice a week. That is enough, trust me. I overdid it in the beginning. I also love that it does its job in only 5 minutes. And it does it well. My hair feels nourished and hydrated after use and the condition of my hair has improved. My hair also feels stronger and not as prone to breakage as it was before. My hair stylist also commented that my hair is in very good condition. It must be the Moroccanoil?! R420

I was quite surprised that the Moroccanoil Volumizing Mousse worked so well for me. I need a lot of hold to keep my curls in check. I had to use a bit more of this mousse than I usually do to keep frizz at bay, but it actually did a decent job. Note that the purpose of this product is to create volume, and not shape and hold curls. I like that my hair never felt or looked sticky and crunchy. What really impressed me was the fact that it lifted my roots so well. And even during the time that I was in desperate need of highlights (my roots fall completely flat when I have that lovely dark streak of regrowth). If you are looking for a lightweight styling product to give you volume and lift, I highly recommend you give this one a try. R320

Now, let’s get to the review that you really came here for… Moroccanoil Oil Treatment. This treatment oil truly deserves its amazing reputation and more. I have used a lot of high quality (and not so high quality) hair oils and I have been impressed with many. Moroccanoil has proved to be as exceptional as they say. I love that the oil is extremely light and does not weigh my hair down at all. Thing is, my hair is extremely fine, but also needs a lot of TLC. That’s why this oil is so ideal. It is light-weight yet extremely nourishing. It smoothes and softens the hair and I have noticed that the condition of my hair has improved since I started using it. It works beautifully on damp and dry hair and even helps to give my curls a little shape when they have become a bit frizzy after a long day. I just comb a little through my hair with my fingers, scrunch and voila. And the shine it gives to my highlighted hair is fabulous. Highlights can sometimes look a little dull, but with this in your arsenal, your hair will never look dull again. The scent. Oh man. It really is divine. The scent alone will make you fall for this beaut. This is a must have product and it is worth every cent. R450.

Naturals Beauty introduces their R&R Kids Range and we tried the conditioner

R&R Range - Ruben is a little boy whose body is very sensitive to toxins and toxin build up. Rebekah is a baby whose skin is sensitive to synthetic fragrances and other nasties! Their mommy has created this range for them and for kids just like them.

Naturals Beauty launched their R&R Baby Range just over 2 years ago and the range has been very successful. Now they have added a Bum Balm to the baby range and they recently launched a much anticipated R&R Kids Range. The Kids Range comprises of a Shampoo & Body Wash, Conditioner and Bubble Bath.

All 3 products are enriched with Rooibos leaf extract and there are other amazing extracts like Calendula, Chamomile and Aloe Leaf used in the products. The 100% natural formulations also make use of Wheat germ oil and Jojoba seed oil to moisturise and condition the hair and skin.

Naturals Beauty was kind enough to send Cara a R&R Kids Conditioner to try and we are loving it. It can be used as a ‘normal’ conditioner to be rinsed after application or it can be used as a leave-in conditioner. We prefer to leave it in as Cara has very dry hair. The product helps to easily detangle her hair, leaving it soft and manageable and her curls are full of bounce and super shiny. (PS My curls love it too). The cute pump bottle retails for R74. Two thumbs up!

I am very keen to try the other two products in the Kids Range as well. Because all R&R products are allergen-free, paraben-free, sls-free, sulphate-free, soap-free, petroleum-free, phthalate-free and mineral oil-free (phew! That’s a mouthful) I am sure that we have also finally discovered a bubble bath that will not irritate Cara’s sensitive, eczema-prone skin. Girls need bubbles! I will let you know as soon as we give it a go.

In the pics you will also see the gorgeous Hemp R&R Kids and Baby Bags that launched over the weekend. Gorgeous, aren’t they?

After trying out the conditioner (and my previous experience with Naturals Beauty) I can say with 100% certainty that you can’t go wrong with any of their products. This brand gives you quality products at great prices and you can be assured that you are using only the best on your child’s skin and hair. This truly is a brand that cares.
