Brand focus: Lipidol

When I heard that the makers of Bio-Oil were launching six new skincare oils, I was curious. When I heard that the products would be selling for R80 a pop at Clicks, I got excited. When I tried them, I was hooked.

Lipidol is brand new range of skincare oils that launched in August 2014. The range consists of 6 oils.

Cleansing Face Oil, Cleansing Body Oil, After Shower Oil, Sunscreen Oil, After Shave Oil, Overnight Face Oil
Cleansing Face Oil, Cleansing Body Oil, After Shower Oil, Sunscreen Oil, After Shave Oil, Overnight Face Oil

I love using oils for my face, body and hair so I don’t need a lot of convincing, but in case you do, here is why Lipidol says our skin needs oil:

‘The outermost layer of the skin is an oily layer. Its purpose is to hold moisture in the skin; an important function because moisture facilitates enzyme activity, which in turn leads to healthy, radiant skin. There are however occasions when moisture does escape. The main culprit is daily washing with soap, which strips away the skin’s oily layer. Another is a dry climate, which draws moisture from the skin into the outside air. Also, as the skin ages it produces less oil and it becomes harder to hold moisture in the skin. It is not possible to replace lost moisture by applying moisture to the skin as the skin’s moisture comes from within. The advantage of using oil in everyday skincare is that the skin’s natural oily layer is continually supplemented.’

I am currently using 5 of the products and I am very impressed. The quality is superb, the packaging is simple and you won’t find better in this price range. I will be posting my reviews on the individual products soon. My favourites so far are the After Shower Oil and Overnight Face Oil.

Check out the stand at Clicks. Chances are that you will not be disappointed. I’m not.

Now this is one Oh So Heavenly body butter

And it is a BUTTER. Not a thick cream with an identity crisis, but a real body butter.

This is a new release from Oh So Heavenly and I am hooked. And yes I wrapped it in hearts because this beauty deserves the love.

Oh So Heavenly Butter Me Up  Moisture Miracle Body Butter is a very rich, triple butter blend of Avocado, Shea and Cocoa butters and is infused with anti-oxidant rich Goji Berries and rejuvenating strawberries.

The texture is super thick and rich and perfect for dry winter skin or areas that need more TLC. Even though the butter is so thick, it melts into your skin. I have my pot on my desk and apply it to my hands during the day, and it is absorbed within a minute. Then it doesn’t even leave greasy finger marks on my phone’s screen. Yet you can still feel the butter on your skin, like a comforting layer that’s protecting your skin. My skin soaks up the goodness and is left feeling supple and soft and it glows. I REALLY love this butter. It also works extremely well with my sensitive eczema-prone skin. I have noticed in the past that some body butters aggravate my eczema, but this one actually calms my skin. As do most OSH creams that I have tried.

I was a bit worried that the scent would be too sweet and over powering, but it is beautifully subtle and reminds me of strawberry Sugus. Totally yum.

Oh ja… and it retails for R37. Yes, you read that correctly. And I promise you, this budget beaut beats a lot of the ‘higher end’ butters  I have tried. It is available at Clicks right now.

There is one more butter in the range and I am convinced it is just as good as this one.
