Essence me & my umbrella trend edition

Autumn is here and, as usual, the latest Essence trend edition does not disappoint. Essence me & my umbrella trend edition A couple of weeks ago Essence sent me a couple of items from their autumn trend addition ‘me & my umbrella’. The first thing that always gets me excited about their trend editions, is the gorgeous packaging. The details are always so perfect. And the make-up? Still the best budget buys around. The collection includes 4 nail polishes. I received rosewood and dark red. The polishes have a semi-matt, gummy finish that gives a ‘rain boots’ effect. These retail for R45. The product that I was most keen to try is the eyebrow thickener. The eyebrow powder has an innovative sponge applicator to help give you perfectly defined brows. When you get the application technique just right, this product gets your brows looking perfect in no time. It comes in 2 shades; blonde and brunette and retails for R55. The lipstick is my favourite. I love the look of matte lipsticks, but they usually just make my lips look dried out. This one does not! It’s gorgeous. And the dark red shade is perfect for the colder months. The lipstick retails for R50. Also be on the lookout for the luscious rosewood shade. The range includes 2 matte eye shadows and I have been really enjoying the grey. The shadow is velvety and applies beautifully. Shadows retail for R45. I am a huge fan of Essence make-up brushes. They are budget friendly and always super soft. The range includes a gorgeous contouring brush and at only R65, it’s a steal. The Essence me & my umbrella...

Dry, scaly, tight skin? I feel your pain. I have extremely dry skin and it requires a lot of love and attention. Especially in winter. NIVEA comes to the rescue again. Not that it is a surprise to most of us, hey?! NIVEA is awesome. NIVEA Rich Nourishing Body Lotion Review If you have normal skin, you can stop reading now. I can feel my skin sighing with relief when I apply it. It leaves my skin feeling smooth, comfortable and nourished for the whole day. The care that this lotion provides, lasts. And that is quite a feat during the cold, dry months. If your skin needs a little extra care, NIVEA Rich Nourishing Body Lotion is for you. Want to know what makes the gorgeous lotion even better? The price! 250ml goes for R36.99, 400ml for R47.99 and a massive 625ml pump bottle goes for only R69.99. And now you know ;)...

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Body Lotion & Oil Review

Palmer’s is on a roll. They keep on impressing me over and over again. First I was completely blown away by the Coconut Oil Formula hair care range. BLOWN AWAY! I have not bought another shampoo since trying the range last year. You can read my review HERE. Then I tried the new Raw Shea Butter body lotion. Once again it was love. My full review is over HERE. Today I introduce to you yet another fab range by this truly fantastic brand. Palmer’s Coconut Oil Formula Body Lotion and Body Oil Coconut treats that deeply hydrate and pamper… you’ve hit the nail on the head Palmer’s. That’s exactly what these two beauties do. Both the body lotion and body oil is formulated with ethically and sustainably sourced coconut oil  and Tahitian Monoi Oil. If you want soft, smooth, hydrated and delicately scented skin, I highly recommend both of these budget-friendly treats. The body lotion is rich and moisturising and leaves my skin feeling soothed and calm. My skin is very dry and becomes extremely sensitive with change of season, and this lotion is exactly what it has been craving for. It is thicker than the Raw Shea Butter lotion and it is ideal for winter when my skin needs a little extra care. Brownie points for the pump bottle! The body oil is just as lovely. It’s light and fast absorbing and works great when applied to damp skin straight after a bath or shower. It doubles a hair treatment, but I have yet to try it on my locks. Another reason I adore Palmer’s is that all of their products are extremely gentle...

Palmer’s Raw Shea Body Lotion Review

It’s not often that a budget body lotion is worthy of it’s own blog post. Does the Palmer’s Raw Shea Body Lotion deserve it? One thousand times YES! Palmer’s Raw Shea Body Lotion Palmer’s combined African Marula Oil, Vitamin E and Oatmeal Extract with Raw Shea Butter and created a lotion that makes my heart skip a beat. How can you get that excited about a body lotion, you may ask? I have very dry, super sensitive skin that gets lathered in lotion or cream after every shower. From top to toe. I go through a lot of product very quickly. My ultimate body lotion should leave my skin soft, smooth, nourished and it should not break the bank. I also need it to keep my skin looking and feeling moisturised for the whole day and work with my sensitive (often temperamental) skin. Palmer’s, your body lotion ticks all the boxes. I seriously love it. What also impressed me is the fact that even though the lotion is not very thick, it still feels rich and nourishing. It absorbs quickly and will not make your skin feel suffocated which makes it great for summer. The key ingredients of this beauty are: African Raw Shea Butter: deeply moisturizes and softens skin Marula Oil: improves texture and radiance Oatmeal Extract: calms and soothes irritation Vitamin E: rejuvenates and combats free radical damage Grapeseed Oil: keeps skin looking youthful Sunflower Seed Oil: balances tone and texure Soybean Oil: helps prevent skin dehydration The formula is also paraben-, phthalates-, sulphate-, mineral oil-, gluten- and dye free. I was worried about the scent… I...

Bargain Beauty – Hair care

Who doesn’t like a bargain? And with Christmas around the corner, every cent counts. Here is a round up of a couple of hair care products that I have been enjoying lately, and I’ve enjoyed them even more because of their price tags. Creightons Argan Smooth Deep Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner This is a great bargain buy! Both the shampoo and conditioner contain Argan Oil, smell lovely and retail for only R50 each. The range is for all hair types, which worried me a bit as my hair is dry, but both products worked like a charm: the shampoo cleaned without stripping and the conditioner left my hair feeling soft and smooth. Really worth a try. I was actually saving the tubes for an empties post… beauty lovers know that an ’empty’ means it’s a winner. Creightons is available at Pick ‘n Pay. Dark and Lovely Amla Legend Oil I’ve heard so many ladies talking about Amla oil and couldn’t resist popping it in my basket when I was doing my monthly cosmetics shopping at Clicks. I think it was only R50! The Amla Legend Oil of 7 Wonders is one of the top contenders for budget buy of the year. It is a lovely sweet smelling hair oil that smoothes, softens and adds brilliant shine. It works great as a treatment and a drop works wonders to smooth dry and frizzy ends. If you have very dry or coarse hair, you will not be disappointed with this oil. It is a very heavy oil, so those with very fine or oily hair may want to steer clear though....
