#LGFB – Looking Good can make you Feel Better

Look Good… Feel Better is an amazing non-profit organisation that aims to support and uplift cancer patients through their free beauty workshops. These workshops assist women to manage the side effects that chemotherapy and radiotherapy can have on the appearance, thereby helping to restore their self image.

LGFB first started in the US in 1989 and is now active in 26 countries. It was introduced to South Africa in 2004 and has grown to the extent that there are now 280 trained volunteers offering the workshops at 39 treatment centres (hospitals and clinics) across the country. The workshops also provide an invaluable opportunity to connect with other women undergoing the same treatments, to help deal with the sense of isolation and emotional turmoil that typifies the cancer journey.

This powerful video of a workshop held at Groote Schuur shares the effects that cancer treatments have on the skin, as well as interviews with two doctors and four patients undergoing treatment.

Please share this video and spread the word about the invaluable work of Look Good… Feel Better.

The Pink Power invisibobble for Breast Cancer Awareness

I have only recently discovered Invisibobble and now I understand why everyone seems to be so obsessed.

These little ‘telephone-cord-looking’ hair rings are fabulous.  It stays in place, it doesn’t tug or pull, it’s strong, anti-allergic and non-soaking. They say it doesn’t leave a kink in your hair, but because my hair is just kink, I can’t really guarantee that ;) I have also seen gorgeous styles created with this little beauty. You can check some of them out HERE.

Invisibobble has released a limited addition Pink Power bobble in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.
