My Summer Saviour: Bioderma Photoderm MAX SPF50+ Aquafluide

It’s hot. Damn, Cape Town. Enough now. This summer, more than ever before, I’ve made sure never to go in the sun without wearing a good sunscreen. I have been wearing Photoderm Max Aquafluide SPF 50+ a lot. What makes it special? Bioderma Photoderm offers very high sun protection that is suitable for all skin types, including oily and sensitive. The emulsion has an ultra-light texture and a dry touch finish. The “oil free” emulsion is optimised by a complex consisting of 3 powders with matifying properties, and concealing agents for a matt and powdery finish. Cellular Bioprotection® preserves the skin’s immunity, cellular integrity and combats the premature ageing of the skin. Photoderm is also hypoallergenic, non comedogenic, fragrance free, paraben free and water resistant. Aquafluide comes in 3 variants – not tinted, light tint and golden tint. I’m using both the clear and lightly tinted versions.  Both have saved my skin many times over the holidays and it continues to do so. We’re going away this weekend and we will be spending most of it outside by the pool. Photoderm is top of my list of what to pack. I wear the tinted one instead of foundation on days that I don’t want to wear a full face of make-up, but also don’t want to go bare. The coverage is not bad at all, and if set with powder it lasts well. The product itself is very light and it spreads easily. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling suffocated at all. Photoderm really does have a matte finish and I highly recommend you give it a try if you struggle with oily skin. I find that...

Halloween makeup – The Walking Dead

I am a huge fan of The Walking Dead. HUGE. And with Halloween around the corner, I thought I’d share the best tutorials I’ve found online to go all Zombie for the 31st. In this video the makeup artists of TWD shows us how makeup, latex, conditioner and even gelatin can turn you into a Walker. One of my favourite youtube makeup masters, is Emma Pickles. In the two videos below she shows us how to get zombified. I hope you have a fun All Hallow’s Eve!...

Loving Lately: Measurable Difference Brow Lift & Tint, NAFHA Argan Oil and Catrice Prime and Fine Eyeshadow Base

Measurable Difference Brow Amplifying Lift & Tint On days that I want to define my brows without going all ‘Instagram’ (you know the brows I’m talking about), I grab my Lift & Tint tube in Caramel and in two ticks, I’m sorted. This eyebrow gel colours, nourishes and conditions the brows in one easy step. The gel applies easily (with the ‘mascara brush’) and it’s long lasting and smudge-resistant. Measurable Difference Brow Amplifying Lift & Tint is available in Caramel and Espresso and you will find it at Foschini stores retailing for R205 (8ml). NAFHA Argan Oil As you can see from the above image, I’ve really been using this gorgeous oil. I am a huge fan of Argan Oil for skin and hair and I was very excited to learn about the NAFHA Argan Oil range that is available at Edgars. The range consists of facial and body products and the one I am most keen on getting my hands on, is the NAFHA Moisturing and Soothing Face Mask. It sounds perfect for skin that needs some TLC during the harsh winter months. The hero product from the range must be the 100% Cosmetic Virgin Argan Oil. This is the real deal. The handy 15ml rollerbal that I received came at just the right time. I used the oil a couple of times a day on the scar from my back surgery and it healed beautifully. It is perfect to treat scars, dry patches, dry cuticles and even chapped lips. NAFHA Argan Oil retails for R260 for the 15ml  rollerball and R580 for a 100ml bottle. Catrice Prime and...

Catrice Absolute Rose eyeshadow palette in Frankie Rose To Hollywood

We are not half way through the year yet, but I am convinced that the Catrice Absolute Rose eyeshadow palette in Frankie Rose To Hollywood will be my number 1 budget beauty make-up item of 2015. ‘Soft nudes and trendy rosé shades – sometimes matt and sometimes shimmering – create a beautiful natural look no matter whether they are used solo or as a team.’ I apologise for using the image from Catrice, but my photos just don’t do the shades justice. Plus I can’t take anymore pics as I have already hit pan on 2 of the shades. I have been using this palette every day for 2 months. Every single day. The shades are truly gorgeous. The shadows are soft and buttery and look beautiful once applied. Shades 1 and 2 are pretty decent highlighters. Shade 1 is more matte and shade 2 will give your inner corner some shimmer. Shades 3 and 4 are stunning. Both are shimmery shades; enough to give you a beautiful look for night, but subtle enough for day. I use both over the whole lid before I add Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze. The combination of these shadows are my go to look for day and night. I have not reached for anything else for months. Sorry for the dust darling MAC and Bobbi. Shade 5 is the perfect shade to fill my brows. I also use it every day. The only shade that I don’t use is shade 6. Just because it is not my cup of tea. It still is lovely. The only downer is the...
Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eye Shadows

Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eye Shadows

Newsflash!! You want the new Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eye Shadows! I attended a media day recently where I was introduced to these beauties and my heart skipped a beat when I saw them. I have to get my hands on (at least) Bronze and Copper Light. I swatched them at the launch and they are beautiful.     Almost 100 years after Mr. Max Factor first started selling eye shadow in 1916 – Max Factor continues to innovate with the launch of NEW gel-based Excess Shimmer Eye Shadows. Available in 6 shades, these super-blendable shimmery shadows are designed for women who want to achieve on-trend metallic eye looks, but have difficulty creating them using traditional pressed powder eye shadows which fail to build up colour. New Excess Shimmer Eye Shadows makes it ultra-easy, thanks to their smart 3D silicone gel formula which holds its high-impact metallic colour pigments in place for up to 12 hours, for intense luminosity and a smooth colour finish. These pots of gorgeousness are available at selected Clicks stores and retail for R130. Hurry… before I beat you to it ;) Happy shopping....
