I’m so glad Tomy Takkies are back!

Now, you know I don’t do fashion, but I find it so interesting how certain styles make comebacks. Especially styles of shoes. Now there are some that should stay buried in the deepest, darkest corner of your closet, like flatforms, and then you get… Tomy Takkies.

I’m so glad Tomy Takkies are back!

“Created in 1964 Tomy Takkies are a genuine, South African classic! Today a new generation is expressing themselves with the Tomy brand. It’s all about celebrating authentic, South African style, music, art and culture.”
When I was in primary school (now this is before some of you were born, he-he), Tomy Takkies were considered a bit oudoos. My mom and all her friends had white Tomy’s and we were forced to wear them… simple, affordable, so-not-fashionable shoes.

Now all I want is a pair of Tomy Takkies in every colour. Okay, I guess I’m a bit too old for bright pink now, but I will definitely be getting Cara a pair. Maybe it’s time for this mommy to get a white pair too ;) They are so cute, don’t you agree?

Brand focus: SknLogic

A couple of weeks ago I received a newsletter from Mariska’s Health and Skincare with an invitation to a SknLogic presentation. I have seen the brand mentioned here and there and I was keen to learn a bit more.  The event was held last night, which included a presentation of the brand, lovely snacks and cocktails and a lucky draw. I won a Pomegranate Firming Facial. Yay me! I will tell you more about Mariska’s and the facial as soon as I go for my pamper session. I also bought SknLogic’s enzymatic exfoliator which I will post a review on soon. Here’s a bit more on SknLogic as a brand.

“The perfect fusion of nature and science, SKNLOGIC skin care collection gives you powerful fruit-based formulas to regenerate, soothe, protect, nourish and restore the skin.”

SknLogic products contain fruit extracts and nourishing ingredients from nature that feed your skin and provide vital vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants that promote healthy skin. Fruit extracts also provide other benefits like that of AHA’s (whoop-whoop!), phytosterols that encourage new collagen production and amino acids that have great anti-ageing benefits. Extracts of specific fruits are added for their unique qualities, e.g. Pomegranate is rich in AHA’s, Fig has amazing moisturising properties and Banana is great for fighting skin inflammation.
SknLogic is a proudly South African company and they do not test on animals. The products are exclusively sold at salons as they feel that a professional skin analysis is needed to ensure that your products are perfectly matched to your skin’s needs. Don’t let this statement fool you into thinking that this brand is expensive. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the products are actually very affordable. The enzymatic exfoliator was only ZAR115. Very well priced indeed.

My first impression of this brand is that it is simple yet effective, affordable and that they promote healthy skin (not promising that their products are a quick fix). I received a sample of a moisturiser that is absolutely lovely and I am looking forward to trying more in the range.

Visit SknLogic’s website for more on the brand, their products and where you can find them. You can also find them on Twitter.

Here are a couple of pics from last night.

I was a good girl and didn’t go near this table…
…but I couldn’t resist these.

Thank you to Mariska and her team for a very informative and fun evening. I’ll see you soon for that facial! Mariska’s is situated in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town and you can check out their website HERE.
