Labello Lip Butter

I am in love with the new Labello Lip Butter in Vanilla & Macadamia. When Chicara from Lipgloss Kisses compared the scent to ‘a freshly baked white chocolate tart topped with macadamia nut brittle’, I knew I had to try it. It smells and looks like melted white chocolate. Yum.

The texture is thick and buttery and melts into your lips. My lips were especially sensitive yesterday as I was wearing a long wear lipstick that can be a bit drying. The moment I applied the lip butter, my lips felt soothed. I applied it a couple of times yesterday and last thing before going to bed. I woke up with a perfectly soft and smooth pout. I really love this product and recommend that you give it a try.

The main reason for this post is the GREAT special at Checkers Hyper at the moment that I have to tell you about. The recommended retail price is R30, but Checkers is selling them for R20 and …wait for it… it’s buy 1 get 1 free till the 6th. Go, go, go!

Now I have a great excuse to get more of these super cute tins and try the Original and Rasberry Rosé as well.

SKNLOGIC’s Enzymatic Exfoliator

A month ago I attended a SKNLOGIC presentation and the product that I was most keen to try, was the SKNLOGIC Enzymatic Exfoliator.

SKNLOGIC Enzymatic Exfoliator

This is what their website has to say about the product:

Papaya Extract can be  used to treat or eliminate old dead skin cells, acne, age spots and other skin disorders and even to reduce the signs of premature aging. Vitamin A acts as an anti-oxidant, while the papain breaks down inactive proteins and removes dead skin cells. The best feature of the fruit is its low sodium quality. Since the salt content is less, the water retention is also little. The result is an overall hydrated skin. Protease Enzyme helps to break down detached dead skin cells from the skin surface. Use of proteolytic enzymes is the newest form of the enzymatic skin exfoliation. These enzymes mimic the role of your own body’s natural protease enzymes and promote decay of the protein and dissolution of dead skin cells stimulating cell renewal. Citric Acid assists with skin renewal and reduces depth of wrinkles by influencing collagen synthesis.

We all know how important it is to exfoliate and I have always loved a good scrub. Over the last couple of years my skin has become even more sensitive and most (almost all) granular scrubs that I have tried, leaves my skin even more sensitive and even worse, flaky. An enzymatic exfoliator is the best option. This one is ideal for sensitive, problematic and mature skins. Tick, tick, and half a tick.

The product itself has a thick gel-like feel that is smooth and white in colour. It basically smells like nothing.

You apply it to damp, freshly cleansed skin and massage using small circular movements, like you would with a scrub.  It kind of feels like nothing’s happening while you use it, so I was a bit sceptical about the efficacy of this product. I was very happy to discover that my skin felt smooth after I removed the exfoliator. My skin skin wasn’t sensitive or red, just super soft and glowing.

I also use the product on my hands. My hands are super sensitive and I can’t bring anything abrasive close to them or my eczema flares up. This exfoliator doesn’t burn or sting my hands, and leaves them silky soft. And because of the price, I don’t feel guilty using it on my hands as well.

In a nutshell:

  • Affordable (R115)
  • Effective
  • Suitable for all skin types (especially sensitive)
Two thumbs up SKNLOGIC. Visit their website and get your hands on this great product.
