It’s Koekedoor fever at Stellenbosch Slow Market on 23 July!

With Koekedoor fever still running high after the recent conclusion of season 2, visitors can look forward to meeting top 3 finalist, Sanet Eigelaar as well as the uber talented Kanya Hunt, the queen of chocolate works. Together with the beloved Koekedoor judge Mari-Lous Guy and Errieda du Toit, content producer and author of the show’s Koekedoor book, the team will decide which cake is the most breathtaking and visually appealing of all.

It will also be the very first public launch of Human & Rousseau’s new Koekedoor 2 baking book and enthusiasts can look forward to rubbing shoulders with the television stars, taking a selfie with them and brag with an autograph or two. The Stellenbosch Slow Market will be the ideal location to purchase the book in order to get the royal family of cakes to autograph it.

Keep it tidy with SweepSouth

I tried SweepSouth a couple of weeks ago and it was awesome. Really awesome.

Keep it tidy with SweepSouth

Don’t stress about the mess, there is a new service on the home scene that will take the hassle out of your household chores. Offering an on-demand cleaning service, SweepSouth’s approach to the domestic service industry is refreshing, innovative and easy to use – for customer and cleaner alike.

SweepSouth is an online, on demand cleaning service that connects homeowners with vetted cleaners in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Centurion and Pretoria.

SweepSouth review

We clean our house ourselves. Just typing out those words makes me depressed. And that task usually gets done on a Saturday morning. That gets me even more depressed.

Don’t get me wrong, I really don’t mind doing it. But when you have a full time job and you handle school runs, cooking, laundry (and, and, and…) it would be really nice not to have to worry about cleaning as well.

I was offered an 8 hour clean to try out this new service and (obviously) I grabbed it with both hands.

I booked the clean via www.sweepsouth.com. What a pleasure. I logged the size of our townhouse, added our address, selected a date and time, confirmed my details and placed the order. Done. Then I received a confirmation email with a photograph and description of the interests and background of the lady who was available to take on the job.

On the morning of the scheduled clean, the lady arrived on time and immediately got to work. She was a dream. She did everything required and cleaned a couple of items that has not seen soap and water for quite a while. I was very happy. Very happy.

What I love most about SweepSouth is the fact that I can book a clean whenever we need it.

The set rate of R38 per hour also makes it easy to budget and I can add additional tasks (like oven cleaning, windows, etc) to the standard clean when it is needed.

Have you tried SweepSouth? I highly recommend it. I think I need to head on over to make another booking…
