Winter Skin Saviours

My skin hates winter. More specifically, the onset of winter. I have very dry, eczema-prone skin and when the weather changes, my skin reacts very negatively. I’m talking super sensitive, patchy, dull, scaly. It ain’t pretty. Here are are couple of my favourite products that are helping my skin beat the winter blues. First up are three of my current favourite body oils. As you can see from the empty bottle on the pic, the Human+Kind All-in-One Body Oil is a winner. It is a very thick and nourishing oil and works wonders on those super dry areas. It retails for R150 and you will find it in selected Clicks, Wellness Warehouse, Woolworths and Stuttafords stores. The Nivea Firming Body Oil is another great body oil that I discovered a couple of moths ago. This is my second bottle and I think that says a lot. This oil is perfect for those who aren’t really fond of the feel of body oils on the skin… it absorbs very quickly and it has a lighter feel than most other body oils I’ve tried. This is a great one to use in summer as well and it retails for R100. A recent find that I am very happy with is a budget beauty from Palmer’s. I think I may be one of very few that doesn’t like the scent of Palmer’s products. Something about it puts me off and the scent seems to linger forever. BUT the Palmer’s Moisturising Body Oil isn’t heavily scented at all and it disappears quite quickly. The oil is beautifully moisturising and leaves my skin glowing and...

I think the title of this post is apt for just about any special day or celebration. Woolies always has just what you need when it’s time to shop for the special people in your life. This year’s Mother’s Day offerings are no exception. These are a few of my favourites… wink-wink. Woolworths has got you covered. Happy shopping!...

My Bright Skin Morning Routine

Last year I received a gorgeous parcel from Human+Kind and I couldn’t wait to dig in. You can have a look at my brand focus post HERE. Here’s a quick recap if you don’t know the brand: Human+Kind gives us multi-tasking, no-nasties products for skin and hair and this award winning Irish brand is available at Clicks, Wellness Warehouse and selected Woolworths and Stuttafords stores. My two favourite facial products are the All-in-One Wash Off Facial Cleanser and the Age Spot Remover Skin Lightening Cream. I have been using these two products every morning for the past few months and I couldn’t be happier. My skin looked beautifully bright and glowing from the first use and the longer I used them, the brighter my skin became. Read a little more on both of these beauties below. Human+Kind All-in-One Wash Off Facial Cleanser This rich, petro-chemical free cleanser is extremely gentle yet effective. It is a luxurious cream cleanser that is 98.5% natural and the active ingredients include organic sunflower oil, organic jojoba oil, cold pressed wheat germ oil, natural vitamin E and arnica oil. My skin is left feeling clean, soft and clear. My sensitive skin loves it. This is definitely my go-to morning cleanser. And yes, you have to wash your face in the morning. Sweat and oil, people. Wash your face. I digress… I tried this cleanser a couple of times in the evening and it is very effective at removing make-up as well. I finished my tube about a week ago and promptly repurchased it. And my fellow beauty bloggers will know exactly what a repurchase means… it’s true...

Go Charlie, it’s your birthday…

I love birthdays. I usually love mine. But this year, not so much. Yes, age is nothing but a number, but why does 37 freak me out?! I’ll be 37 on the 21st… thirty-freaking-seven! Damn. And I look so old. And my body feels it too. Especially since I’m recovering from a back op. Can you say ‘ou antie’?? My head and heart doesn’t feel it though. Time passes way too quickly. Anyway… I thought I’d make it a little easier for friends and family and put a little wish list together. What I would have LOVED for my birthday isn’t possible because I am basically bed bound for the whole of my birthday month, but both of my favourite hunky singers are in Cape Town this month… Michael Buble and Paolo Nutini. And Paolo is performing at Kirstenbosch. Can you imagine ‘Grant my last request’ under the stars?! How amazing is that show going to be? You’re killing me boys. Killing me!! Ag wat, such is life. Any of the below goodies may help heal the emotional scars of missing out…   Consol Jars Big ones, small ones, solar… I want them all. Solar Jars because they look absolutely beautiful. And Eskom. Small ones for my make-up brushes. I want some for my kitchen too… but make-up storage wins hands down. And I want a big one for my nail polish. I have seen many bloggers who store their polishes in jars and it looks so pretty. Human+Kind facial cleanser I just finished a tube and I must have more. This is probably the best cream cleanser I have ever...
