Tangle Teezer… worthy of its cult status?

Short answer: Yes. Stick around and I’ll tell you why I agree that the Tangle Teezer most definitely deserves its cult status.

Tangle Teezer… worthy of its cult status?

A Tangle Teezer was on my birthday wish list and the amazing girls of Freebees PR & Marketing surprised me with one. Birthday made! Thank you again.

I have always been curious to know if the Tangle Teezer is truly worth the hype. I have those cheap ‘knock-offs’ and I couldn’t help but wonder if there really was such a big difference between these detanglers and the Tangle Teezer. If you’ve ever wondered the same thing, let me tell you now: there is no comparison!

We received a Tangle Teezer Compact. How gorgeous is this design?

Tangle Teezer... worthy of its cult status?

When I say ‘we’, I mean Cara and myself. All the hair care goodies I try, are used on these curls as well…

I try very hard to care for my little girl’s locks as best I can. I want her to one day love her curls as much as I do.

Firstly, let me tell you how and when detangling of our curly mops happen… combs touch our hair only on wash days and when loads of conditioner covers every strand. I wash my hair every day and honestly I don’t really struggle to detangle my hair. During summer, Cara’s hair is also washed every day (sweat, playschool sand, etc) and even then, detangling is a chore. When we can skip a day or two between washes (which I prefer) you can only imagine how hard it is. Cara also sleeps on her back and the matted mess on the back of her head some mornings is quite a sight to behold.  Detangling of Cara’s hair is a tediously time-consuming and (rather) painful task.

Here is where the Tangle Teezer has come to the rescue. I can (for the first time!) detangle Cara’s hair when it is dry and the process is a lot less painstaking than before. The whole process is easier, quicker and there is a lot less hair fall and breakage when using the Tangle Teezer. I am so impressed! This product is worth every single cent.

Tangle Teezer Compact

This is the version of the Tangle Teezer that we have. What I love about it is the that it fits comfortably in my hand, it comes with a cap to protect the bristles and it comes in super cute designs. This is a handbag must-have.

Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash

Tangle Teezer Aqua Splash black

This one I have to get!! Aqua Splash has been specifically designed to be used on wet hair. The light weight, hollow design and rounded edges makes for easy handling and minimal damage to wet hair. This is a must have for curly hair.

Tangle Teezer Magic Flowerpot

Tangle Teezer Magic Flowerpot purple

The Flowerpot will make any little girl’s heart skip a beat. The design is so pretty and the little pot is perfect to hold a couple of pretty hair accessories. One Christmas Cara and Mieke (Cara’s bestie and cousin) will wake up to find these in their stockings. Too cute.

The Tangle Teezers that I mentioned above all retail for R260 on Retail Box and are also available at most top salons. The original goes for R230. Credit to Retail Box for the images of Aqua Splash and Flowerpot.

I know this is expensive, but I promise you, it’s worth it. Especially if you have little ones and struggle to get those lovely locks detangled.

Two thumbs up!

I’m not really one for ‘window shopping’, but I couldn’t help lusting after quite a few goodies while browsing Retailbox lately. I am really trying my best to take better care of my hair and Retailbox is the perfect one-stop-shop.

These items make my heart skip a beat…

Kerastase Elixir Ultime  – I’ve read a few rave reviews on this hair oil and the packaging just looks so indulgent, don’t you think? R470

L’Oréal Tendresse Shampoo and Detangling Cream. I didn’t know that L’Oréal made hair products for kids. I’m always on the lookout for products to keep Cara’s curls looking great and I’d love to give these a try. R231 and R267

Pureology Strength Cure Restorative Masque. ‘Boosts strength and reduces breakage. Helps protect colour radiance.’ Sounds like just what I need. R305

Paul Mitchell Spring Loaded Conditioner. The name just says it all. I have to try this on our curls. R275

Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo. I haven’t tried anything from this brand yet, but from what I’ve heard, this shampoo is a winner. And because its sulfate, phosphate and paraben-free, it’s gentle enough for everyday use. I want. R270

Invisibobble in Candy Pink. Just so cute. R80

Tangle Teezer. I would love to find out how the Tangle Teezer will perform with our curls. I know many say it’s a must-have, but I wonder if it’s worth the hype and the price tag? I so badly want to find out. I would love the Compact Christmas Edition for myself and a Magic Flowerpot for Cara. I mean, seriously… how cute is that? R260

Moroccanoil Curl Control Mousse. After watching the how-to video on this product’s page, this mousse has gone from my ‘want list’ to my ‘need list’. It looks like the perfect styling product for me. R290

Paul Mitchell Neuro Dry. A hairdryer is a hairdryer, right? Well, apparently not. ‘Boasting tourmaline ions for quicker drying, reduced frizz and enhanced shine, the dryer offers 2000W of power, whilst the ‘Clean Filter’ is activated by the SmartSense microchip to ensure optimum performance and efficient styling.’ I think I want to trade Cara’s neon pink dryer (that we’ve been sharing) for this one! R2 500.
