Sun Ceutic 50 – Anti-Aging Sun Protection

Bicarb paste, baby oil and the smell of boiling hot tan cans. Those are the first images that come to mind when I think of tanning when I was at school. I can remember my mom and her friends lying next to the pool for days on end during the summer holidays and the kids picking at the scabs that formed on their foreheads and noses after spending hours in the pool. Back then nobody was really bothered by the fact that burning yourself to a crisp to get that beautiful bronze tan was actually the worst idea in the world. No hats, no shade and definitely no sunscreen.

Luckily we now know better, but for some of us most of the damage has been done. The older I get, the more the pigmentation and sun spots are starting to show. Let that be a warning to you! I am only 36 and I have huge sun spots on my legs… like an old antie.

I am trying my best to look after my skin a bit better, but to be honest I still struggle to apply sunscreen to my face every day. Most of the products I have tried either leave me feeling like I’m wearing a mask and I’m being suffocated or it makes my skin extremely oily. So I usually try to use moisturisers and foundations that contain an SPF, but I realise that it isn’t always enough.

I think I may have found my holy grail sunscreen…  Dermaceutic’s Sun Ceutic 50.

‘Dermaceutic Sun Ceutic is more than just a sunscreen: it combines the benefits of the powerful stem cell stimulator phycosaccharide AIP, hyaluronic acid and aloe vera. Its microdispersed mineral filters guarantee perfect transparency. It contains both physical and chemical UVA and UVB protecting ingredients and powerful anti-ageing agents.’

First things first: it contains effective UVA/UVB filters with SPF 50. That’s what you want; very high protection. That’s great, but what I love about this product is that it doesn’t feel greasy at all. It feels like a light moisturiser that sinks into my skin. After it’s absorbed, I can’t feel it at all. It doesn’t cause excess oiliness and shine and it doesn’t affect my make-up in any way. It’s like it’s not even there. My skin is also very sensitive and prone to eczema. I have not had any negative reactions to this product. That’s probably because it contains no Oxybenzone, Octocrylene, Paraben or fragrance.

I highly recommend this sunscreen, especially if you have sensitive and/or oily skin.
