Juliette Armand Skin Booster Thavma Therapy at Legs Eleven Green Point

A couple of weeks ago I received an invitation to experience a Juliette Armand Skin Booster Thavma Anti-Wrinkle Therapy Treatment at Legs eleven in Green Point.

First of all, I would never say no to an opportunity to experience a product or treatment by Juliette Armand. Love this brand. I have posted about them before HERE, HEREHERE, HERE and HERE.

This opportunity was even more enticing as Legs eleven is the first salon in Cape Town to launch the Juliette Armand Skin Boosters Thavma Therapy Treatment which is said to be a revolutionary anti-wrinkle solution without the use of injections.

Legs eleven Green Point Cape Town Skincare and Hair Removal Salon

This was my first time visiting Legs eleven and I can’t wait to visit them again. A beautiful salon with a lovely and relaxing atmosphere. Read more about the services on offer HERE.

On to the treatment.

Many products and treatments promise you the world, but they do not always deliver. That’s a fact. So I can’t be blamed if I was a bit sceptical that the result of this treatment would really be skin that shows improved firmness, hydration, texture and tone PLUS show visible reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Stay tuned…

Juliette Armand Skin Boosters No Needles Just Results Pretty Please Charlie review

Below are the key steps of this treatment as provided by Legs eleven. I have to use their words, as I was too relaxed to take it all in on the day. The therapist from Juliette Armand provided a treatment that was both highly effective and a relaxing treat.

Step 1: The peel – A mild superficial combination glycolic and salicyclic acid peel is applied to the skin. This resurfaces the skin, stimulating cell renewal and allows improved penetration of the other active ingredients. In addition the peel agents help to improve skin tone, texture and hydration.

Step 2: Upper and lower face masks – An upper face mask is applied to the forehead and eye contour area for hydrating and plumping. A lower face mask is applied from the nose to the jawline for firming and lifting. These masks effectively target the two major concerns of each half of the face.

Step 3: Thavma serum – This Serum delivers the innovative effectox TM deep into the skin to slow down the contractions of your facial muscles responsible for expression lines. It has a moisturising and firming action, helping to prevent fine lines and wrinkles and prevent the loss of elasticity. Its also combats dark circles around the eye contour area and improves the dull appearance of the skin.

Step 4: Moisturising – Chronos wrinkle filler is first applied locally to fine lines and wrinkles e.g. forehead lines, crows feet, nasolabial folds) to reduce the depth of the wrinkle. This spot specific treatment contains a unique anti-ageing complex and hyaluronic acid causing the visible filling and plumping of fine lines, wrinkles and creases. The last step is the application of the Thavma Lift Anti- Wrinkle Cream which moisturisers and tightens the skin whilst treating the expression lines and wrinkles. It results in an immediate glow to the skin.

My thoughts and results:

Firstly, the treatment includes a peel. When I hear the words acid and peel, I already get excited. In my experience, skin peels are definitely the way to go if you want clear, smooth and glowing skin. The peel was very mild and I only experienced slight tingling. The rest of the treatment was quite relaxing (even though this is not the aim of it at all. This is about results).

After the treatment my skin looked radiant, plump, rejuvenated and it felt amazing. I had plans for the rest of the day and I was very happy to see that my skin showed no signs of redness or irritation.

Then therapist then asked me an odd question. ‘Do your muscles feel tired at all?’ She told me to frown. And it did really feel like it was a bit of an effort to do so. That was due to the EFFECTOX mentioned in step 3 above. This technology inhibits the formation of expression lines and wrinkles as the blend active ingredients works by blocking the release of neurotransmitters which results in significantly fewer facial muscle contractions.

This is why a course of Thavma treatments is the way to go if you are not quite ready or keen on injections.

Legs eleven recommends a course of 6 treatments which can be performed from once a week up to once a month.

I can positively say that a course of these treatments will be worth every cent and if my one hour treatment is anything to go by, you will not be disappointed.

A single session costs R980. Have a look at the prepaid packages HERE (and save).

Thank you so much to Legs eleven and Juliette Armand. My skin loved the treatment.

Dermaceutic Milk Peel review

About two weeks ago I got the opportunity to go for a Dermaceutic Milk Peel at the lovely Solace Therapy in Cape Town. Now, if someone offers me a peel to try, I’m going to jump at the chance. I LOVE peels.

About the Dermaceutic Milk Peel:

Milk Peel Treatment is a clinically-tested chemical peel system that targets dull skin, fine lines, folliculitis, and complexion irregularities. This superficial medical-grade peel restores luminosity, boosts collagen production, and leaves patients with a natural, more even complexion. Thanks to its gentle formulation and an in-clinic protocol designed to leave patients with minimal downtime, Milk Peel treatment is a progressive alternative to laser treatments and highly concentrated peels. Suitable for all skin types and phototypes, Milk Peel is an ideal “maintenance treatment” for any time of year.

The active ingredients in Milk Peel Treatment are glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and lactic acid. The specific formulation of these fruit acids exfoliates and dekeratinizes the skin and dissolves excess oil.

Glycolic acid – removes impurities and dead cells; the small glycolic molecule easily penetrates the epidermis, and its acidic pH accelerates exfoliation by destroying the links that bind dead cells together.

Salicylic acid – causes a chemical reaction that reduces intercorneocyte cohesion, and destroys lipids that bind the outer cells of the epidermis.

Lactic acid – is a humectant, which draws moisture into the skin, and removes pigment by inhibiting tyrosinase.

Now that you know how it works and what it does, here are my thoughts:

The procedure was quick and simple. My skin was cleansed, the peel was applied, and again removed after only a couple of minutes and a serum was applied. You can really have this done in your lunch time… and still have time for lunch. The peel did sting, but it was not unbearable. I kinda liked it; it means something was happening. When I got up to look in the mirror, I was really surprised. My skin looked better than it did when I walked in, with make-up on my face. A-FreakingMazing! My skin was glowing. Before my wedding I went for regular peels and my skin looked great but only after a couple days. There was a lot of peeling. With the Milk Peel I experienced none of that. My skin was silky smooth and bright. I love the results. And my skin still looks great almost two weeks later.

Highly recommended!!

RRP: R450 (depending on where you have it done and whether you have additional treatments added to the peel or not). It is recommended that you initially have a course of four peels, done at two week intervals, and then once a month as maintenance.
