Wake Wonderful with REN’s Night-Time Facial

I always get a little extra excited when I get to try something new from REN. Their products are great and my skin seems to really dig some REN goodness. REN released the Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial a couple of months ago and I think it’s one of their best products yet. What is it? ‘A transforming treatment that works overnight to leave skin visibly brighter, more luminous, refined and even-toned by morning.’ A unique complex of actives delivers a 3-phase treatment while you sleep:  Phase 1: The exfoliating and brightening effect of the acid/enzyme complex is delivered to the skin on application Phase 2: Next, Glycogen and Magnesium take over to revitalize and boost skin cell vitality Phase 3: Finally, Sodium Lactate kicks in to gradually raise skin PH, leaving the skin rejuvenated and infused with plumping moisture In a nutshell, it is a leave-on mask that exfoliates, brightens, boosts, revitalises and plumps. And does it? Yes. My skin really looks and feels great after using this mask. It is not recommended for sensitive skin, but my skin seems to really love it especially when it’s being particularly temperamental. You can apply it on clean skin or between applying your serum and moisturiser (which may be advisable if your skin is very sensitive). I feel my results are better if I apply it on freshly cleansed skin. There is a slight tingling, but it is extremely slight and it only lasts for a second. This is a great mask and one I would gladly spend my hard earned cash on. REN Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial retails for R620. Visit...

L’Occitane Youthful Body Almond Velvet Balm and Velvet Serum Review

Drawing upon the regenerating powers of almond tree native cells, L’Occitane introduces the new Youthful Body Almond Velvet Balm and Velvet Serum. Why Almond? Almond is well-know for its ability to nourish the skin, L’OCCITANE has harnessed the exceptional beautifying power of almond from the south of France and integrated it in body treatments and toiletries that are both deliciously tempting and wonderfully effective. Made with Almonds sourced from Haute Provence, the Almond range, including our delicious shower oil and mouth watering body cream, supports the sustainability of almond trees in the region, as these trees area staple to the beauty of the Provencal landscape. With every L’Occitane product I try, my love for this French brand just seems to grow deeper. Both of these products target 5 key signs of body aging, namely dryness, skin slackening, lack of tonicity, fine lines and skin irregularities. The almond tree flower scent is sophisticated, subtle and truly lovely. The Almond Velvet Balm is a treat beyond any other. The cream is rich and luxurious and leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth and supple. Indulgence at its best. My extremely dry and sensitive skin almost sighs with relief when I apply this cream. R710 for 200ml. The Almond Velvet Serum can be used on its own or before the balm. I was very surprised that even though it feels incredibly light-weight, my dry skin was left feeling comfortable and smooth even when used on its own. I think this is a brilliant product for warmer days or for those who do not like the feeling of cream on their skin, but still need the...

Epi-max – Dry skin solutions for the whole family

Last Friday I attended an editors’ day hosted by Freebees PR and Marketing and Epi-max was there. I then realised that I have never featured this amazing brand on my blog. I think it’s about time that I tell you how fantastic their products are seeing that we use Epi-max every, single day in our house. Epi-max is a brand that my family knows very well. Cara developed eczema when she was 6 months old and the pediatrician recommended Epi-max. This brand has been a staple in our home for over 4 years. What makes Epi-max so special? Why is it different to any other aqueous cream? That’s what I asked at first too. The thing is, it’s not an aqueous cream. It is actually an emollient cream which serves as a humectant. This means that the cream locks in moisture and prevents it from evaporation, thus preserving or increasing water content. Epi-max is also hypo-allergenic, perfume-free, dermatologically tested and free from artificial colourants. Plus it’s not tested on animals! The range consists of light-weight lotions, creams, a hand cream, a foot cream and a bath oil. Epi-max Foot Cream works beautifully on very dry hands by the way. Epi-max Baby and Junior is gentle enough to use from birth and is great to use on little ones with eczema. This is Cara’s all over body cream. And, honestly, on most days it’s mine as well. Epi-max is also water-soluble which means it can be used as a substitute for soap. This makes it perfect to wash and moisturise delicate skin. As a beauty blogger I often test various body products, but I...

Loving Lately: Measurable Difference Brow Lift & Tint, NAFHA Argan Oil and Catrice Prime and Fine Eyeshadow Base

Measurable Difference Brow Amplifying Lift & Tint On days that I want to define my brows without going all ‘Instagram’ (you know the brows I’m talking about), I grab my Lift & Tint tube in Caramel and in two ticks, I’m sorted. This eyebrow gel colours, nourishes and conditions the brows in one easy step. The gel applies easily (with the ‘mascara brush’) and it’s long lasting and smudge-resistant. Measurable Difference Brow Amplifying Lift & Tint is available in Caramel and Espresso and you will find it at Foschini stores retailing for R205 (8ml). NAFHA Argan Oil As you can see from the above image, I’ve really been using this gorgeous oil. I am a huge fan of Argan Oil for skin and hair and I was very excited to learn about the NAFHA Argan Oil range that is available at Edgars. The range consists of facial and body products and the one I am most keen on getting my hands on, is the NAFHA Moisturing and Soothing Face Mask. It sounds perfect for skin that needs some TLC during the harsh winter months. The hero product from the range must be the 100% Cosmetic Virgin Argan Oil. This is the real deal. The handy 15ml rollerbal that I received came at just the right time. I used the oil a couple of times a day on the scar from my back surgery and it healed beautifully. It is perfect to treat scars, dry patches, dry cuticles and even chapped lips. NAFHA Argan Oil retails for R260 for the 15ml  rollerball and R580 for a 100ml bottle. Catrice Prime and...

The Spindel Laundry Dryer is my new favourite appliance

I’ve rewritten the beginning of this post numerous times as I can’t find the words to properly express my love for this appliance. Yes, I LOVE this appliance. My Spindel is my new best friend. And as I am typing this it’s over at my mom’s house and, after giving her a quick demo this morning, I may have a fight on my hands as I doubt that she is going to want to give it back. What is this Spindel you may ask? Spindel is a specialist laundry spin dryer that uses centrifugal force instead of heat to quickly remove excess moisture from laundry. It also extracts residual detergent and mineral deposits from the fabric, so laundry dries cleaner and feels better too! Spindel can be used with machine or hand-washed laundry and is safe for all fabrics. In a nutshell: you put your clothes in it after you’ve washed it, it spins helleva fast and ‘sucks out’ up to 80% of the moisture still left in your clothes in just 3 minutes. Have a look at the demo: Now you may ask why in the world do you want to spend money on another appliance taking up space in your home and essentially putting an extra step in your laundry routine? Because you will save money on electricity, your drying time (air or tumble dry) will be much less than before, you will not have heaps of damp laundry stinking up your house (especially in this horribly cold weather Capetonians are experiencing at the moment) and your laundry will feel and smell better than ever before. And, those with sensitive skin...
