REN Instant Firming Beauty Shot Review

This serum is said to instantly lift, firm and plump to give the skin a smoother, tighter and more youthful appearance.

What REN says:

Instant Firming Beauty shot is formulated with a liquid matrix of Phycocolloids and two different Hyaluronans. The Hyaluronans work together to produce both short and long term improvements in skin firmness. Hyaluronan 1 acts as a cell messenger focused on improving cell cohesion leading to an instant tightening and lifting effect. Hyaluronan 2 works deeper down in conjunction with dermal fibroblasts to boost elastin synthesis and improve long term skin firmness.

An evaluation on 30 women proved promising:

•83%* of women said their skin felt firmer 30 minutes after application and 90%* said their skin felt firmer after 6 Hours

•87%* of women said their skin felt more lifted 30 minutes after application and this remained at 87% after 6 Hours

•In a clinical evaluation performed by a dermatologist 100%* of women showed an improvement in skin smoothness after 30 minutes and 87%* continued to show an improvement in skin smoothness after 6 Hours

What I say:

At first I didn’t really feel that this gel-like serum did much. It felt nice and smells lovely, but I didn’t really notice an ‘instant’ change in my skin. THEN after a few days I noticed that my skin looked more youthful and radiant. My skin definitely looked smoother and more supple which was great as change of season can be quite harsh on my sensitive skin (read: patchy and scaly). And people were complimenting me on how great my skin looks. It definitely plumps and smoothes. This serum is now a staple in my routine and I couldn’t be happier with the results. It does wonders on those days when my skin looks a little dull and needs a boost. REN’s Instant Firming Beauty Shot is a definite must-have, especially during winter when one’s skin can do with a little more moisture and radiance. I also love that a little goes a long way and that a drop can be patted onto skin over make-up to give your skin a little extra pick-me-up. Perfect if you want to look your best for an event or night out.

PS I just browsed REN’s website myself and spotted a newbie (or am I behind the times again?). REN has a new cleanser in the Rosa Centifolia range – the Rosa Centifolia Hot Cloth Cleanser. I HAVE to get my hands on this one. It sounds heavenly – warm cloth cleanser on a cold winter night. Ultimate indulgence. Watch this space.

I have combination skin that’s tends to become very ‘confused’ this time of year. The hotter weather causes a bit more oiliness, but the wind (and aircon) can cause my skin to also become tight and flaky in places. A good clay mask always works like a charm to counteract the excess oil build up and the congestion that comes with it, but some masks tends to suck the life out of my skin and leaves it feeling to tight and dry.

The Invisible Pore Detox Mask does not fall into this category.

A detoxifying clay mask designed to reduce the appearance of pore size and leave the skin purified, smooth and toned.

The mask comes on a pump bottle and does not have the typical clay mask texture. The mask has a light, airy feel to it and spreads easily over the face. I also like that it doesn’t dry to an uncomfortable and tight ‘I-can’t-move-my-face’ finish. Once the mask is dry, you just gently massage the product all over your skin and rinse. It is very easy and quick to remove. I haven’t experienced any breakouts caused by the deep cleansing mask, and I am very happy about that.

My skin is left looking clean and bright and a little clearer. And my skin feels smooth and calm. There is also no tightness or dryness.

This is a perfect clay mask for my sensitive skin and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs a mask that cleans deeply without stripping the skin.
