Last year Cara and I spent a few days in Prins Albert and last month we finally had the chance to see the end product of the project she was a part of… our girl is a movie star!!!

It still seems so unreal and I’m still not really sure how it happened. But I can’t take any credit. This girl is our superstar. And now, Cara van der Westhuizen, you are a movie star!

Liewe Kersfeesvader

Liewe Kersfeesvader is an Afrikaans movie that will be hitting the big screens on 17 November 2017! And we will be booking out the whole cinema.

A teenage beauty queen is flung into swift adulthood when her father assumes a new identity: Father Christmas. Juggling a crazy father, an impressionable kid brother and a growing romance, Nonnie has to redefine her own meaning of family. – www.imdb.com

The role of Nonnie is played by the amazingly talented Mila Guy. There are flashbacks in the movie of Nonnie as a little girl… played by Cara van der Westhuizen!! I am so proud I can burst!!

We attended the world premiere of Liewe Kersfeesvader at the Kyknet Silwerskermfees on 25 August and it was magical. Get ready to laugh and cry – Liewe Kersfeesvader is a must see.

I would like to thank Etienne Fourie (writer and director), Stefan Enslin (producer), JP du Preez (Novo Sound), Milan Murray en Morné Visser. You were all so amazing with Cara, on set and after. And Etienne and Stefan, thank you for allowing Cara to be a part of this wonderful movie.

It’s all about the cake at the Stellenbosch Slow Market come Saturday, 23 July!

Show off your decorated cake at the Stellenbosch Slow Market to see if you can win over top television personalities.

It’s your chance to prove that you are just as good at baking and decorating as the contestants of the highly acclaimed Koekedoor tv series on kykNet. Bake and bring your cake creation to the Stellenbosch Slow Market on Saturday, 23 July 2016.

It’s Koekedoor fever at Stellenbosch Slow Market on 23 July!

With Koekedoor fever still running high after the recent conclusion of season 2, visitors can look forward to meeting top 3 finalist, Sanet Eigelaar as well as the uber talented Kanya Hunt, the queen of chocolate works. Together with the beloved Koekedoor judge Mari-Lous Guy and Errieda du Toit, content producer and author of the show’s Koekedoor book, the team will decide which cake is the most breathtaking and visually appealing of all.

It will also be the very first public launch of Human & Rousseau’s new Koekedoor 2 baking book and enthusiasts can look forward to rubbing shoulders with the television stars, taking a selfie with them and brag with an autograph or two. The Stellenbosch Slow Market will be the ideal location to purchase the book in order to get the royal family of cakes to autograph it.

With a delicious chocolate and orange theme, young and old are invited to come show off their creativity when it comes to cakes. The emphasis of the competition will be on decorating and those who want to showcase their expertise when it comes to cake creations can do so by sending an email to chocolateandorangecake@gmail.com. Participants (of any age) have to remain true to the chocolate and orange theme however. Entries are R50 per person – and all proceeds raised will be donated to the Cupcakes 4 Kids with Cancer charity. Great prizes are also up for grabs – including an autographed Koekedoor 2 book, a shopping voucher of R1000 to spend at The Baking Tin, and more.

Apart from the Koekedoor highlights of the day, visitors can also look forward to a variety of delicious surprises and produce fresh from the farm. Furthermore, chocolate and everything orange will be celebrated on the day. Come and be part of the fun,
