Ditch the Itch with Bioderma Atoderm

My skin is always very dry in winter, but this winter has wreaked havoc. My skin is so dry and scaly and itchy… it’s driving me nuts. And now that Spring has sprung I know it’s going to get worse before it gets better. My skin hates change of season. I have discovered a range that has given so much relief though. I’ve been able to ditch the itch thanks to Bioderma Atoderm.

Ditch the Itch with Bioderma Atoderm

The Bioderma Atoderm range has been designed for very dry to atopic sensitive skin.

Through its Atoderm range, BIODERMA has an original solution for very dry to atopic sensitive skin. Thanks to its dermo-patented formulas, Atoderm biologically and lastingly restores the hydrolipidic film of skin lacking moisture and lipids.

Ditch the Itch with Bioderma Atoderm

A couple of weeks ago I received three products from the Bioderma Atoderm range to try and all the products have been a godsend.

When I received the parcel, I immediately tore it open as I was having a particularly bad skin day and was desperate for relief. My skin was so dry and tight it felt as though a just had a triple dose of Botox. The first product I reached for was the SOS Spray. I thought it was a thermal water spray (which is always so soothing), but a spritz on my face, I realised it was not… it was BETTER!

Bioderma Atoderm SOS Spray

I was taken aback by that first spritz as I expected a thin mist of thermal water; it felt more like a thin lotion. The effect was AMAZING! My skin felt soothed and calmed and the urge to scratch was 90% less than it was before I popped the cap on this bottle of liquid gold. HOLY GRAIL! The Atoderm SOS Spray is the product I’ve been waiting for all of my life. Gone are the flakes, the scales and that constant urge to scratch the skin off of my face. I also use the SOS Spray before I apply my makeup and on the very dry days, I spray a thin layer over my makeup as well. The spray leaves a transparent, slightly sticky-to-the-touch layer on the skin that offers the relief I’ve been praying for.

Atoderm SOS Spray benefits from a new scientific discovery: 2 new biological targets were identified as causing itching for skin prone to atopy or psoriasis. This care also acts on other biological pathways for a global action on either frequent or temporary itching. The new Skin Relief technology (containing Ambora and Green tea extracts) combined with the renowned soothing dermatological active ingredient Enoxolone blocks the biological process responsible for itching right from the start and directly targets each of involved pathways. The Skin Barrier Therapy™ patent protects even the driest skin from the bacteria that causes itching to intensify. Lastly, Vitamin PP and Squalane supplement the formula in order to supply lipids required to strengthen the skin barrier. The patented natural D.A.F. (Dermatological Advanced Formula) complex raises the skin’s tolerance threshold.

Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Gel Moussant

I’ve been using the Atoderm Intensive Gel Moussant as a facial cleanser for the past couple of weeks and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a gel cleanser (which threw me a bit at first). Gel cleansers are drying, right?! Well, not all are created equal and this one stands out from the crowd. This foaming wash cleanses thoroughly without stripping or drying. I’ve also been using it as a first and second cleanse in the evenings, and by the end of the second cleanse, all the makeup, sunscreen and dirt and grime of the day is gone. It obviously also works beautifully as a body wash, but I am saving every single drop for my face.

Bioderma Atoderm Intensive Baume

This ultra-soothing skin balm is rich and nourishing whilst still light enough for use during the day. It’s also unfragranced and non-comedogenic which makes it perfect for eczema-prone skin. The Atoderm Intensive Baume is a fantastic product that I can’t dream to be without.

Atoderm Intensive Baume quickly stops itching and reduces the urge to scratch thanks to its anti-itching dermatological active ingredient PEA. Enriched with soothing and purifying agents, it instantly soothes irritation. Atoderm Intensive Baume restores the skin barrier for a lasting effect thanks to its exclusive Lipigenium complex made up of biolipids that are naturally present in the epidermis. Its patented Skin Barrier Therapy limits adhesion and proliferation of staphylococcus aureus on the one hand and penetration of allergens on the other, both being factors in aggravating dryness.

This range is an absolute winner. You need proof… I haven’t used cortisone cream on my face since I started using it.

I give these products two thumbs up, 5 stars, 10/10. Highly recommended!

Cetaphil is saving my face

My skin hates winter! So, so much. And this year it’s even worse. Not only is my skin dry, sensitive and blotchy; my face has decided to welcome an old friend… eczema. Thank goodness Cetaphil came to the rescue and is saving my face.

Cetaphil is saving my face

If you are a regular South African beauty blog reader I’m sure you’ve seen reviews of the new Cetaphil face products doing the rounds. I have and I am super jealous. I have read such great reviews and I’m dying to get my hands on the new products. But this post isn’t about the new products on my lust list. It’s about old favourites for body that’s turned out to be my face’s saving grace.

As I’ve mentioned, my skin hates winter. If you’re a regular reader, I apologise as I am sure you are used to me going on and on about it this time every year. It’s much worse this year though. I have eczema-prone skin. I’ve suffered for 41 years but I have never had an outbreak this bad on my face before. I have patches on my cheeks and my forehead. It’s not been a pretty sight. I’ve been able to conceal it with make-up to a certain degree, but it’s the non-stop itching that’s been driving me absolutely crazy. CRAZY! And all of the sudden my skin hates the products it usually loves. Some of the gentlest products in my arsenal now burn my skin. I have also had to put aside all my anti-ageing, pigmentation-fighting and saucer-sized-pore-busting serums. I’m sad.

Cetaphil sent me a few of my favourites to help my body beat the winter-skin blues, but I decided to try them on my face this time round, and I am so glad I did.

Cetaphil Restoraderm for eczema-prone skin

The Cetaphil Restoraderm Body Wash and Body Moisturiser is a godsend for dry, sensitive and eczema-prone skin. That’s a fact. So I decided to try it on my face and I am so glad I did. The wash doesn’t burn my skin or leave it feeling stripped, but it still cleans properly as these pores need a good cleaning every morning and night. The moisturiser has helped a lot to relieve the tightness and the constant itch that drives my up the wall. This clinically proven range has really given me so much relief.

I was still left  with severe dry patches on my forehead and cheeks on the really bad days.

Cetaphil Moisturising Cream

Cetaphil Moisturising Cream to the rescue! This is the MOST AMAZING body moisturiser in the world. And, as it turns out, a fabulous night cream. If I had to choose one cream to use for the rest of my life, this is it. And here’s why:

• Intense and lasting moisture to replenish sensitive, dry skin — great for very dry skin

• Clinically proven to provide immediate, long-lasting hydration that soothes dry, sensitive skin

• Unique formula attracts water to the skin and helps prevent moisture loss

• Quick absorbing, rich, non-greasy

• Fragrance-free, mild, non-irritating

My forehead and cheeks (and the rest of me) looks and feels so much better thanks to this cream.

I don’t really know when or how my skin will get back to the ‘pre eczema-breakout-from-hell state’ as my eczema is stress related and the only way to really clear it up is with cortisone. I’m trying my best to avoid that route. But for now I want to thank Cetaphil for these 3 products as they have given me so much relief. My skin looks and feels beter than it has in weeks. Now to work on the stress levels …
