Epi-max – Dry skin solutions for the whole family

Last Friday I attended an editors’ day hosted by Freebees PR and Marketing and Epi-max was there. I then realised that I have never featured this amazing brand on my blog. I think it’s about time that I tell you how fantastic their products are seeing that we use Epi-max every, single day in our house. Epi-max is a brand that my family knows very well. Cara developed eczema when she was 6 months old and the pediatrician recommended Epi-max. This brand has been a staple in our home for over 4 years. What makes Epi-max so special? Why is it different to any other aqueous cream? That’s what I asked at first too. The thing is, it’s not an aqueous cream. It is actually an emollient cream which serves as a humectant. This means that the cream locks in moisture and prevents it from evaporation, thus preserving or increasing water content. Epi-max is also hypo-allergenic, perfume-free, dermatologically tested and free from artificial colourants. Plus it’s not tested on animals! The range consists of light-weight lotions, creams, a hand cream, a foot cream and a bath oil. Epi-max Foot Cream works beautifully on very dry hands by the way. Epi-max Baby and Junior is gentle enough to use from birth and is great to use on little ones with eczema. This is Cara’s all over body cream. And, honestly, on most days it’s mine as well. Epi-max is also water-soluble which means it can be used as a substitute for soap. This makes it perfect to wash and moisturise delicate skin. As a beauty blogger I often test various body products, but I...

Eucerin Sensitive Skin Saviours

Eucerin is a brand that I know quite well and I adore their cleansers and one of my favourite toners is by this brand. And let’s not forget about the Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm. I think I have 3 tubes floating around at the moment. Moms, this balm is a must have!  I was recently sent a press pack containing 4 products that I was very excited to try. I was especially keen on the sunscreen as I followed the launch on Twitter and Instagram and it sounded perfect for my sensitive, oily skin. The Eucerin Sun Gel-Creme Oil Control Dry Touch Face SPF50+ (holy crap that’s a mouthful) claims to offer superior photoprotection and an anti-shine effect for oily and acne-prone skin. Now we all know why we should wear sunscreen, so I don’t have to go on about that. This product also contains loads of difficult to pronounce ingredients that offers cellular and DNA protection and oil regulation. That sounds awesome, but I’m sure you are here to hear if it works or not. YES! We went to a braai on the most recent public holiday and it was a beautifully warm and sunny day. I knew we were going to sit outside and savour every warm ray, so it was the perfect day to test it out. After about 10 minutes in the sun, I asked the hostess for some sunscreen as I could feel my shoulders were going to go lobster if I didn’t do something. My face was obviously still feeling great. That night I saw feint tan lines on my shoulders and the...

Loving Lately: Measurable Difference Brow Lift & Tint, NAFHA Argan Oil and Catrice Prime and Fine Eyeshadow Base

Measurable Difference Brow Amplifying Lift & Tint On days that I want to define my brows without going all ‘Instagram’ (you know the brows I’m talking about), I grab my Lift & Tint tube in Caramel and in two ticks, I’m sorted. This eyebrow gel colours, nourishes and conditions the brows in one easy step. The gel applies easily (with the ‘mascara brush’) and it’s long lasting and smudge-resistant. Measurable Difference Brow Amplifying Lift & Tint is available in Caramel and Espresso and you will find it at Foschini stores retailing for R205 (8ml). NAFHA Argan Oil As you can see from the above image, I’ve really been using this gorgeous oil. I am a huge fan of Argan Oil for skin and hair and I was very excited to learn about the NAFHA Argan Oil range that is available at Edgars. The range consists of facial and body products and the one I am most keen on getting my hands on, is the NAFHA Moisturing and Soothing Face Mask. It sounds perfect for skin that needs some TLC during the harsh winter months. The hero product from the range must be the 100% Cosmetic Virgin Argan Oil. This is the real deal. The handy 15ml rollerbal that I received came at just the right time. I used the oil a couple of times a day on the scar from my back surgery and it healed beautifully. It is perfect to treat scars, dry patches, dry cuticles and even chapped lips. NAFHA Argan Oil retails for R260 for the 15ml  rollerball and R580 for a 100ml bottle. Catrice Prime and...

Catrice Absolute Rose eyeshadow palette in Frankie Rose To Hollywood

We are not half way through the year yet, but I am convinced that the Catrice Absolute Rose eyeshadow palette in Frankie Rose To Hollywood will be my number 1 budget beauty make-up item of 2015. ‘Soft nudes and trendy rosé shades – sometimes matt and sometimes shimmering – create a beautiful natural look no matter whether they are used solo or as a team.’ I apologise for using the image from Catrice, but my photos just don’t do the shades justice. Plus I can’t take anymore pics as I have already hit pan on 2 of the shades. I have been using this palette every day for 2 months. Every single day. The shades are truly gorgeous. The shadows are soft and buttery and look beautiful once applied. Shades 1 and 2 are pretty decent highlighters. Shade 1 is more matte and shade 2 will give your inner corner some shimmer. Shades 3 and 4 are stunning. Both are shimmery shades; enough to give you a beautiful look for night, but subtle enough for day. I use both over the whole lid before I add Maybelline Color Tattoo in On and On Bronze. The combination of these shadows are my go to look for day and night. I have not reached for anything else for months. Sorry for the dust darling MAC and Bobbi. Shade 5 is the perfect shade to fill my brows. I also use it every day. The only shade that I don’t use is shade 6. Just because it is not my cup of tea. It still is lovely. The only downer is the...

Winter skincare for nose and lips + Letibalm GIVEAWAY (closed)

Congrats Carolyn! Your hamper will be on its way to you shortly! Almost a year ago I was introduced to a great product that has turned out to be a winter essential. It’s actually been a year-round essential as I suffer with allergies. Letibalm has been specifically designed to care for lips, nose and the skin in between. You can pop over to my review Letibalm – a winter essential for more details. What I love most about this brand is that they have a paediatric version which is suitable for kids from 0 – 8 years. I love this one for myself as well. It is a great balm to use to soothe little red noses, cracked lips and little chins when dribbles irritate delicate skin. Here are a few very handy winter skincare tips for nose and lips that were shared with me this morning. Be sure to stick around as I have a little giveaway to share as well.   Winter weather, colds and ‘flu can play havoc with your skin. To help avoid the ‘Rudolph’ red nose look here’s handy advice from IVOhealth’s Dirna Grobbelaar on caring for the lips, nose and skin in-between. Constant nose blowing and cold weather can result in the delicate skin between the nose and lips becoming dry and irritated. Small cracks appear, which are exacerbated each time you wipe the nose. The area becomes chapped, red and sore. If you are unlucky enough to catch a cold, take special care right from the start. Keep your skin well-moisturised and apply Letibalm nose and lip repair balm regularly. It is...
