Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser Review

I have been a fan of Eucerin for years and one of my favourite cleansers is their DermatoCLEAN Cleansing Gel. You can see the review I posted in 2013 HERE. I also love the Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Toner (review HERE) which works like a charm during the warmer months when my skin tends to be quite oily. I’ve often thought of trying the DermoPURIFYER cleanser but I was worried that it might be too drying as it is formulated for acne prone skin. Well, I tried it. And here are my thoughts.

Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser Review

Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser Review

What they say:

The soap-free and fragrance-free formula provides gentle and effective cleaning for blemish-prone skin. The non-comedogenic properties ensure pores aren’t clogged and the skin is rid of bacteria.  Best of all, the cleansing gel won’t leave skin feeling dry or tight like many other acne cleansers on the market.

The highly effective Eucerin® DermoPURIFYER range is proven to combat all four key factors of acne prone skin at the source, where the formation of acne begins: Formation of whiteheads; blackheads; excess sebum and abnormal growth of bacteria and inflammation.

The combination of active ingredients in Eucerin® DermoPURIFYER work to improve blemished skin and heal acne.  Clinical studies have shown that after four to 12 weeks of consistent use skin starts to show a visible improvement.  The formula contains:

Lactic Acid, a natural moisturising factor, with anti-bacterial effects. It is also keratolytic and comedolytic, which means it softens keratin, thereby improving the skin’s moisture binding capacity, and breaks down comedones or blackheads. And it helps to balance the skin’s pH. Unlike salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide, however, both common ingredients in acne preparations, it does not dry out the skin.

Ampho-Tensides, are gentle yet effective cleansing molecules that work to eliminate excess sebum, dirt and make-up. The Eucerin DermoPURIFYER Cleanser is therefore a soap-free formulation. With 6% Ampho-Tensides it foams as it cleanses resulting in pure, clear skin.

This cleanser is AWESOME. Full stop. I really thought that my face would feel stripped and taught after use, but that is not the case at all. It leaves my skin feeling soft, smooth and clean. It foams beautifully which I love (my mind tells me my skins isn’t clean if the face wash doesn’t foam; even though I know that’s not true). It also does a wonderful job at removing make up.

Best part… the price. The cleanser retails for R139.99 for 200ml BUT it also comes in a massive 400ml bottle that retails for only R229.99! What a bargain.

The new DermoPURIFYER Cleanser 400ml value pack will last you for ages and it is perfect for daily care if you suffer from skin problems on the back, neck and chest areas. Where was this bottle when I was a teenager?!

The Eucerin DermoPURIFYER range is available from Clicks, Dis-Chem and selected pharmacies nationwide.

Well done Eucerin.

Dermaceutic Foamer 5 Gentle Exfoliating Cleansing Foam

Dermaceutic is a brand that has not ceased to impress. I recently finished a bottle of their Dermaceutic Foamer 5 Gentle Exfoliating Cleansing Foam and I am so happy with the product.

Dermaceutic Foamer 5 Gentle Exfoliating Cleansing Foam

'Skin is encouraged to renew itself faster making it look fresher, keeping it hydrated and looking younger.'
‘Skin is encouraged to renew itself faster, making it look fresher, keeping it hydrated and looking younger.’

Foamer 5 is an exfoliating cleanser that is recommended for dry and sensitive skins with dull complexion, irregular texture and skin imperfections. It contains 5% Glycolic Acid to exfoliate and remove impurities, and Enoxolone which is an anti-inflammatory agent known for its soothing and calming properties.

The cleanser is a very light and airy foam which comes in a simple pump bottle (win!).

Foamer 5 leaves my skin beautifully clean and soft and after a couple of uses I noticed that my skin was smoother and more radiant. I was worried (even though I love me some acids) that the Glycolic Acid could be a bit drying and harsh on my sensitive skin, but it proved to be anything but. I never experienced any stinging or sensitivity and it didn’t ever leave my skin feeling dried out or stripped. And I used it daily. My skin was just clean, smooth and radiant.

Foamer 5 retails for R450 and I highly recommend it.

Whilst getting all my facts straight about Foamer 5, I noticed that Dermaceutic also has a Foamer 15. This cleanser (obviously) contains 15% Glycolic Acid and is recommended for oily, congested and acne prone skins. This also sounds like a winner and I would recommend acne sufferers give it a try.

A product that I am very keen to try is the Mask 15 which also contains 15% Glycolic Acid.  It is also recommended for oily, congested and acne prone skin and can be used once or twice a week. It can also be used for normal skin once a week or once a fortnight. I need it as it is said to be a skin refining mask that helps to reduce pores and blackheads (I hate my pores). Keep this one in mind next time you are mask shopping.
