You better get your behind to the Stellenbosch Slow Market this weekend as pancakes will be celebrated like never before!

This Saturday’s theme is Pancake and Lemon and they have loads of fun (and pancakes!) on the menu.

A Celebrity Pancake Bakeoff will be taking place at 12:00. Ewan Strydom (from Expresso), Vicky Davis (from Pasella) and her musician husband Schalk Joubert, and singer/actress Nedine Blom will be competing to find out who can bake the best pancake. All the funds raised will go to the winner’s charity of choice.

I think that ‘Blink Stefaans’ will be the star of the day though…

The Pancake Ladies of Ommihoek Pannekoek will be showcasing Blink Stefaans (as they affectionately call the pancake machine) from 10:00 to 14:00, selling pancakes in aid of charity at a mere R10 per pancake. This amazing machine can make up to 200 pancakes an hour and it was designed in the 1960’s. How cool is that?! To see Blink Stefaans in action, be sure to visit their Facebook page HERE. All the funds raised by the pancake sales will be pooled together for the pancake bake-off.

Your child can get 5 a day with a little help from SOLAL

Cara is a picky eater. Add to that her food allergies and sensory sensitivity, and you can only imagine the struggle. Getting her to try new foods is a huge challenge which often ends in tears and a bribe… you gotta do what you gotta do.

Picky eater

Moms, I know I’m not alone!

Last night was a good one; Cara polished a bowl of chicken, couscous and pumpkin. They day before that she ate a whole banana. Victory!! Those are exceptions to rule I’m afraid. Most days my little girl lives on jam sarmies and Weetbix. And Ouma’s spaghetti bolognese.

I try my best… I hide bananas and carrots in bran muffins, I blend veggies beyond recognition and add them to pasta dishes, but it isn’t always that simple. Or easy. Some days I am just glad that my child goes to bed with a full tummy.

Ensuring that Cara eats 5 fruit and veg portions a day is near impossible, but thanks to SOLAL, I can now stress a little less. And thank you to the lovely Eleanor for the tip! She also has a picky eater and has some great tips on her blog Just Ella Bella.

SOLAL 24-in-1™ SuperFruit & Vegetable Drink

Your child can get 5 a day with a little help from SOLAL

The SOLAL 24-in-1™ SuperFruit & Vegetable Drink provides 18 fruit
and vegetables, 5 antioxidants and 500 million probiotics
for optimum nutrition.

This yummy (really!) fruit and vegetable concentrate contributes towards the recommended 5 fruit and vegetable portions you need per day for optimum health. And if you have a picky eater like me, it is worth it’s weight in gold.

It contains 5 SuperNutrient™ antioxidants (grape seed extract, lutein, lycopene, zeaxanthin and astaxanthin), 9 SuperFruit™ extracts (mangosteen, acai, goji berry, noni, cranberry, pomegranate, bilberry, citrus bioflavonoids and blueberry), 7 fruit and vegetable concentrates (blackcurrant, carrot, celery, red beets, spinach, lettuce and onion), 2 herbal extracts (parsley and rosemary) and it is packed with 500 million probiotics per serving. It is aslo free from colourants and contains no added sugar.

Sounds awesome, doesn’t it? I think it is. And Cara loves her new juice. Winning!

This stuff is not cheap. A bottle retails for R145. I know it sounds hectic, but I really think it’s worth it. Especially during cold and flu season. And one bottle gives you 30 servings. This stuff is super concentrated so don’t be shocked when you see the size of the bottle. 150ml really gives you at least 30 servings.

SOLAL 24-in-1 is available from leading pharmacies, health stores and online at www.solal.co.za  or through www.juniva.com.

Two thumbs up.

xoxo
