936 Pennies – Win a book hamper

Time passes so quickly, doesn’t it? I often find myself staring at Cara’s beautiful little face, wondering where the time has gone. These first 7 years went by in a flash. And in a blink of an eye, another 7 will have passed. I wonder what Cara will look like? I pray we will still be as close and that my then teenager will feel free to talk to her mom about anything. And 7 years after that my baby will be all grown up and out of the house…

We have 936 weeks between the birth of our child and when they turn eighteen. How are we investing that time?

Scary thought, isn’t it?! 936 Pennies by Eryn Lynum is a reminder that time is fleeting and that we should live each day intentionally.

936 Pennies Discovering the Joy of Intentional Parenting

936 Pennies Discovering the Joy of Intentional Parenting

When Eryn Lynum was given a jar of 936 pennies (one penny for each week of her son’s life from birth to age 18), it was a tangible reminder of how fast kids grow up. We only have so much time to teach them, to make memories, and to love them while they are at home. Through very personal stories and hard-earned wisdom, Eryn shows us that while we can’t control time, we can slow it down by living each day intentionally.

As you remove one penny from the jar every week, you’ll discover how to prioritize what really matters—things like making your home richer in laughter, teaching family values in everyday moments, and showing God’s love and grace with every opportunity. Your kids will see how simple choices, like putting the cell phone down and going on a family hike, will make all the difference. Together, you will stretch time to its fullest potential.

“For every mom who feels spent, finished, bankrupt by bedtime. Eryn reminds us with humor, honesty, and relatable experience that what you spent in time, patience, energy, memories, and do-overs was worth every penny. Literally.” —Lisa-Jo Baker, Publisher’s Weekly bestselling author of Never Unfriended.

A natural flu remedy, Letibalm and a giveaway

I hate winter. The cold, the constant sniffles, dry and irritated skin, and the flu… the dreaded flu. The kind Ivohealth people recently sent us a hamper containing our favorite winter lip balm and the ingredients to create our own natural flu remedy.

Honey, lemon & ginger cold and flu remedy

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of honey
  • 2 lemons – sliced
  • a chunk of fresh ginger – sliced

Method

  1. Add the lemon slices, ginger and honey in layers to fill a glass jar.
  2. Place the sealed jar in the fridge for 12+ hours to allow the flavours to infuse.
  3. Add a teaspoon or 2 of the remedy to hot water and enjoy immediately. Make sure to stir the mixture well before using as the ingredients may separate.
  4. The sealed remedy can be kept in the fridge for up to 2 months.
  5. Feel better!

Letibalm

Letibalm came into our lives a couple of years ago and it has been a winter essential ever since. It’s actually been a year-round essential as I suffer with allergies.

Whether it’s caused by allergies, hay-fever, colds or flu, blowing the nose repeatedly can damage delicate skin leaving it red, chapped and sore. Letibalm has been especially created to protect and care for the lips, nose and the skin in-between. Originally from Spain, it’s the first balm of its kind and the only nose and lip repair balm available in South Africa. Letibalm gently moisturises dry skin, helps to repair painful cracks and calms irritation. It also creates a protective layer on the skin to prevent further chapping.  Thanks to natural decongestants menthol and camphor, Letibalm also helps to ease breathing.

Letibalm is available at a recommended retail price of R69.90 from Dis-Chem, selected Checkers stores and independent pharmacies. It comes in 3 variants: Letibalm fluid (10ml tube), Letibalm (10ml jar) and Letibalm Paediatric (10ml jar – for children 0 to 8 years).

GIVEAWAY

I’m giving away TWO hampers of Letibalm nose and lip repair balm (worth over R200 each). This prize is the perfect winter soother and contains all three varieties of Letibalm – paediatric (for children 0 to 8 years), regular fluid and the regular balm.
