Justine Pure Youth Review

Justine holds a very special place in my heart as the very first skincare products that my mom ever bought me, was from this South African brand. I have fond memories of those blue bottles.

Justine sent me a box with a couple of products to try, and even though my skin is by no means ‘young’, I was still keen to try this range. I think these products are perfect for younger skin, but it’s working very well with my more mature, combination skin. Did I just use the word ‘mature’ do describe myself?! I am only 36. But you get the point. If you like sticking to the basics of cleanse, tone and moisturise, this range may be one to look into.

Pure Youth Clean Act Foaming Cleanser

This light and airy foam gently cleanses skin without drying it out. It does a great job as a face wash and removes dirt and oil very well, but you do need a make-up remover to first remove heavy make-up.  Regular Price: R130/September Special: R85

Pure Youth Get Fresh Toning Lotion

I love using toner. I don’t always feel like my skin needs it as I always double cleanse anyway, but my skincare regime feels like something is missing when I skip this step. Pure Youth Face Forward Day Cream

This moisturiser is very lightweight, but still feels very nourishing and leaves my skin feeling soothed and hydrated, even on days that my skin feels a bit drier than usual. It also contains a SPF15. Regular Price: R200/September Special: R130

This range gets two thumbs up for quality, effectiveness and simple, but cute packaging.

REN Flash Rinse – From lacklustre to luminous in 60 seconds

This revitalising gel based treatment contains the following ingredients to leave your skin looking and feeling smooth, toned and firm:

  • Boswellic acid – To relax muscles and fight facial fatigue & to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Magnesium – To energise and boost radiance.
  • Vitamin C – To stimulate collagen synthesis, aid skin elasticity and firmness, reduce oxidative and UV damage, even out skin tone & provide instant radiance to the skin.

Why Vitamin C? It instantly brightens and evens skin tone and has a firming, toning and lifting effect on the skin. As Vitamin C is collagen boosting, it also aids skin elasticity and firmness in the long run. It also aids in repairing UV damage.

The product itself is a pale green gel that feels like a silicon-based primer and gentle exfoliator combined. The gel is then massaged into dry, cleansed skin. Once done, you wet your fingers and massage again. The water activates the potent dose of Vitamin C! When the water mixes with the gel, the ‘grainy bits’ disappear on contact and it feels like a smooth gel that you are massaging all over your skin. Then you leave it on for 1 minute before rinsing or removing with a face cloth.

I have used it 3 times since I received it and the results are amazing. My skin instantly feels so soft and smooth and it glows. My skin is a little red afterwards, but it is not irritated at all. It is more of a flushed look (like when I run up a flight of stairs… still working on my fitness, okay!), but my skin settles quite quickly again.
