Hair Makeover: From Blonde to Denim

I have been a blonde for about 12 years. I loved being a blonde. But after 12 years, I was starting to get bored. In all honesty, I’ve been bored with blonde for quite a while, but I had no idea what I wanted. I wanted a change, but I didn’t want to go back to any of the multitude of hair colours I had before the blonde. I’ve done red. I’ve done plum. I’ve done dark brown.

I’ve been a bit obsessed with grey/silver and denim hair for a while, but I was too scared to try it. What if grey just made me look older?! I am 38 and the blonde highlights have been doing a pretty decent job of hiding the grey I already have. And denim? What if that just made me look like an ‘old tannie‘ trying too hard?!

I was on my way to Style Bar a couple of weeks ago to get my roots done, and on my way there (about 10 minutes from the salon) my sister talked me into it… I was going denim!

I was strangely calm about the decision.
