TheraVine Mango Face Balm Review

Winter is a bugger.

My skin can literally (yes, literally) go from combination to tight, dry, scaly, blotchy and uncomfortable in a matter of days.

The reason is two fold. In Cape Town the weather can change from summer to winter in an instant. I don’t think we really experience autumn anymore. The other reason is the fact that my skin barrier function… well, let’s just say it doesn’t function.

I was dreading winter as I knew what was waiting for me. I wasn’t prepared and when the icy cold weather hit, you can only imagine what my poor skin had to face.

And then TheraVine came to my rescue.

TheraVine Mango Face Balm Review

TheraVine Nourishing Mango Face Balm Review

What they say:

An ultra sheer facial balm enriched with Olive extract which helps restore the elasticity of the skin. It nourishes and quenches very dry skin and ultimately encourages cell regeneration.

Ingredients: Mango Seed Butter, Grapeseed Oil, Rose, Jasmine, Neroli, Carrot.

Price: R451 for 50ml.

What I say:

I will never go through a winter without the magic of this silky balm. It is just that good.

At first I was unsure because when I hear the word ‘balm’ I tend to imagine a petroleum jelly-type product that sits on your skin making it feel like it can’t breathe.

This nourishing balm is nothing like that. It is super smooth and feels great on my skin. Immediately after application skin feels calmed, soothed and comfortable. It is recommended for night time use and from the first morning, I could see and feel a difference.

TheraVine Mango Face Balm saved my skin!!

This pot is going to last me forever as only a tiny bit is needed. I thought that it may go to waste as summer is approaching, but I still use it every day. My allergies are acting up and the balm works wonders to help heal the skin on and around my nose. It works great on lips and cuticles too.

I have also used it on Cara’s delicate skin when she has dry patches due to her eczema and it has even helped to heal a scab after an unfortunate hand-stand-gone-wrong incident.

I can’t sing the praises of this product enough. You will love the TheraVine Nourishing Mango Face Balm. You can take my word for it. As soon as I (eventually) finish this press sample, I will be buying one myself.

PS I was introduced to the brand thanks to a moisturiser sample (which is just as awesome) thanks to www.bellebox.co.za. Thanks again!

New Cetaphil Baby – A review

Cetaphil launched Cetaphil Baby in July. The range consists of a Gentle Wash & Shampoo and a Daily Lotion.

Daily care for healthy skin from the first day of life.

Cetaphil Baby is specially formulated for delicate newborn skin, and is free of soap, parabens, mineral oil and animal origin ingredients.

New Cetaphil Baby - A review

Cetaphil Baby products are specially formulated for babies’ needs with fewer ingredients to minimise the risk of allergies and to help your baby’s skin grow strong and healthy.

I have so much love and respect for Cetaphil and I have not ever been disappointed by this brand. The only ‘negative’ I feel is the price tag as Cetaphil does not come cheap, but I can assure you that it is worth every penny. And this comes from a woman who has suffered from eczema her whole life, who is also a mom who cares for the delicate skin of a little eczema-sufferer.

New Cetaphil Baby – A review

I was very excited when I received the new Cetaphil Baby range to try. Even though Cara is 5, I knew that both of us would really enjoy these products.

Cetaphil Baby Gentle Wash and Shampoo is enriched with glycerin and panthenol, which are important building blocks for strengthening the skin barrier. It’s hypoallergenic, soap free and tear-free formula provides head-to-toe gentle cleansing and the important hydration and moisturisation needed for healthy skin and hair development.

Cetaphil Baby Daily Lotion is enriched with glycerin, panthenol, and tocopherol – again, important building blocks for strengthening the skin barrier. A triple blend of sunflower seed oil, soybean oil and shea butter help keep the natural moisture in the skin. Its hypoallergenic formula helps bind cells together to restore and strengthen the skin’s natural barrier and stops moisture getting out.

I decided to take the wash and the lotion along on our recent trip to Bloemfontein. I was so glad I did. Bloem is terribly dry and so was my skin and hair while we were there. In fact, it was the only soap and cream I took on the trip and it exceeded my expectations. Hubby didn’t complain either.

The wash gently cleansed our skin leaving it feeling clean, soft and smooth. The lotion, even though extremely light, left our skin feeling soft, supple and nourished. Seeing that it worked so beautifully for us, I can only imagine how amazing it will be for a baby’s sensitive and delicate skin.

Well done Cetaphil!
