Maybelline Clear Smooth All-In-One Cake Powders

‘The All-In-One that does it all! Protects, brightens, and controls oil for flawless, matte skin all day.’

I have been eyeing these for a while now and I was very curious to see how they perform. I get shiny very quickly and I have to reach for blotting papers and powder a couple of times during the day. I am very weary of cake powders as they sometimes make my skin look overly matte and cakey. I prefer not to look old and dried out you know!

This powder beautifully sets my make-up and keeps the oily shine at bay (for a little while at least). It’s great for touch-ups during the day as it mattifies my skin just enough and it provides a little bit of extra coverage. My skin feels silky smooth and looks more even-toned when I’m wearing this powder. An awesome bonus is that it contains a SPF25. Plus the compact is super cute and it contains a huge mirror and handy little sponge for on the go touch-ups. It comes in an array of shades so you will definitely find one that suits your skin tone. These pretty pink compacts retail for ZAR80.

I really like it. This is a goodie Maybelline.

L’Oréal Mega Volume Miss Manga

Finding the perfect mascara is just as hard as finding the perfect pair of jeans or black pants. This process of trial and error has resulted in so many mascaras being passed on to family members or landing up in the bin. But if you touch my Miss Manga, you die!

I don’t often review mascaras as I haven’t really found one that I would repurchase without a second thought. Miss Manga has changed my mind. I LOVE this mascara.

‘Miss Manga features a 360 degree flexible brush for effortless application. Its unique brush has a flat surface to intensify and amplify upper lashes while its conical shape capture the lower lashes. Formulated with collagen spheres and polymers for ultimate volume and hold.’

My thoughts:

The formula is smooth and applies like a dream. You can add layer after layer with no clumping. After the first coat my eyes instantly look wide open and awake. I definitely don’t need to curl my lashes when using Miss Manga. It gives my lashes beautiful volume and length. At the end of the day my lashes look exactly the way they did just after I applied it – no smudging, no fading and no panda eyes.

When I first saw the bushy cone-shaped brush, I really thought that this mascara and I would not get on. I prefer rubber or plastic bristles. But it combs through my lashes with ease, it seperates them perfectly and it can get into the corners of my lashes and coat every single lash.

The packaging is so pretty; I love the pink and black. And the tube can stand upright. For me that’s a bonus.

Check out this cute tutorial:

Miss Manga retails for ZAR140 and is available right now at Clicks, Dischem, Foschini and Edgars.

Highly recommended! Go, go, go!

PS I hope to see the Violet, Turquoise and Blue released here too :)
