Brand focus: Lipidol

When I heard that the makers of Bio-Oil were launching six new skincare oils, I was curious. When I heard that the products would be selling for R80 a pop at Clicks, I got excited. When I tried them, I was hooked.

Lipidol is brand new range of skincare oils that launched in August 2014. The range consists of 6 oils.

Cleansing Face Oil, Cleansing Body Oil, After Shower Oil, Sunscreen Oil, After Shave Oil, Overnight Face Oil

I love using oils for my face, body and hair so I don’t need a lot of convincing, but in case you do, here is why Lipidol says our skin needs oil:

‘The outermost layer of the skin is an oily layer. Its purpose is to hold moisture in the skin; an important function because moisture facilitates enzyme activity, which in turn leads to healthy, radiant skin. There are however occasions when moisture does escape. The main culprit is daily washing with soap, which strips away the skin’s oily layer. Another is a dry climate, which draws moisture from the skin into the outside air. Also, as the skin ages it produces less oil and it becomes harder to hold moisture in the skin. It is not possible to replace lost moisture by applying moisture to the skin as the skin’s moisture comes from within. The advantage of using oil in everyday skincare is that the skin’s natural oily layer is continually supplemented.’

I am currently using 5 of the products and I am very impressed. The quality is superb, the packaging is simple and you won’t find better in this price range. I will be posting my reviews on the individual products soon. My favourites so far are the After Shower Oil and Overnight Face Oil.

Check out the stand at Clicks. Chances are that you will not be disappointed. I’m not.

Revlon supports Cancer.vive

Revlon is one of the key sponsors of the Cancer.vive project and they have created two looks inspired by the Cancer.vive bike ride that is taking place at this moment (see my post on this HERE).

This make-look was created by Revlon SA make-up artist Vuyo Varoyi. Doesn’t Revlon South Africa Brand Ambassador Bonang Matheba look gorgeous?!

I received the products used to create this look and was kinda wondering why all the purple… this is what Vuyo had to say about his colour choice: ‘In colour psychology purple represents power, creativity, wisdom, peace and magic. It has an uplifting effect on the spirit and it is also associated with vitality and feminine energy.’ Of course, the Pantone colour of the year is Radiant Orchid, a beautiful fuchsia purple, chosen to express joy, love and health – just perfect to embody the spirit of Cancer.vive. ‘Finally,’ he continues, ‘this great look works on all skin tones, from fair to dark.’ I have never used purple on my eyes before, but after reading that, I am Inspired to try.

Nail artist Chi Chi created this fun look also inspired by the Cancer.vive bike ride.
