Aveeno Active Naturals is here!

I love body creams, lotions and butters. A LOT. Whenever I see a new brand on the shelf, I can’t help but pop at least one item in my basket. Do you feel the same? I have a new brand that you have to try. It’s amazing and it comes at a great price. I introduce to you… Aveeno Active Naturals.

Aveeno Active Naturals

Who is Aveeno?

From our humble beginnings in 1945, the story of the AVEENO® Brand has been one of discovery. By unlocking nature’s powers through scientific advances, we have discovered ways to nurture and transform skin and hair to an enhanced state of natural health and beauty.

Founders, American inventor and philanthropist brothers Albert and Sidney Musher, were driven by a profound curiosity about how things work and how substances interact, and a belief that centuries-old remedies hold the promise for human wellness. Their experimentation with raw cereal led to the discovery of a finely milled colloidal oatmeal bath. This treatment was proven effective in skin prone to eczema by the U.S.-based, internationally renowned Mayo Clinic, where it is still in use today. Drawing inspiration from Avena sativa, the Latin word for oat, the AVEENO® Brand was born.

Today, we partner with leading health professionals and scientists in the discovery of ACTIVE NATURALS®ingredients. Derived from nature, uniquely formulated, and scientifically proven to soothe compromised skin and hair, these exclusive formulas are trusted and recommended by professionals as effective wellness solutions.

The Aveeno Daily Moisturising Range is designed for dry skin and leaves the skin feeling calm, radiant and hydrated. The daily moisturising lotion is gorgeous. It’s rich, creamy and 200ml retails for R80.

The Daily Moisturising Body Yogurt is my favourite of the products I tested. Even though it feels very light, it is still moisturising and nourishing. I suffer from eczema and this cream did not irritate my skin at all. Actually quite the opposite – it is incredibly soothing. A great product for summer and winter. It also retails at R80 for 200ml.

The Aveeno Dermexa Range is formulated for extra dry, sensitive skin and it is amazing! The range is frangrance-free, calming, soothing and nourishing. It worked very well with both my own and Cara’s sensitive skins. PS All the product images above are of empty containers. I finished and savoured every single drop over the December holidays. We finished the Dermexa body wash first and the bottle went to the recycling bin before I took a proper pic (bad blogger I know!). Both of these products are fantastic and I highly recommend you give them a try. The wash and the lotion both retail for R170.

I also received 2 tubes of the Aveeno Baby Daily Care Baby Barrier Cream. I didn’t think that I would be able to review it as I don’t really know anyone who could try it out for me; I was wrong. I’m sharing something personal here, but I don’t think my gran would mind. My gran was very ill last year and she spent a month in ICU. When she came home, she was bed bound. Trips to the bathroom were not possible for a while and a barrier cream became a necessity. This barrier cream worked like a charm! It saved my gran’s skin. Thank you Aveeno. The baby barrier cream retails for R115 for 100ml.

La Roche-Posay Lipikar is a sensitive skin saviour

La Roche-Posay is a brand that’s still fairly new to me. I’ve recently tried their kiddies sunscreen and it’s great. I was excited to try the new La Roche-Posay Lipikar products that landed on my desk a while ago, as I’ve only heard good things. I wasn’t prepared to be this blown away…

La Roche-Posay Lipikar is a sensitive skin saviour

La Roche-Posay Lipikar is a sensitive skin saviour

Why does La Roche-Posay say their Lipikar range is special?

La Roche-Posay laboratories created LIPIKAR 25 years ago. This range of body products for dry skin among adults and children has proved effective in a number of clinical trials, establishing it as a market-leader in emollient products.

What if flare-ups of severe dryness could be a thing of the past? Enter Aqua Posae filiformis, an exclusive patented active ingredient by La Roche-Posay.

TWO-FOLD ACTION TO ACT ON THE TWO FACTORS OF ATOPY-PRONE SKIN

  1. At skin’s surface: Aqua Posae Filiformis helps re-establish the microbiome’s diversity to take action during flare-ups and to stabilize it during periods of remission to avoid relapses.
  2. In-depth:Aqua Posae Filiformis soothes irritation and stimulates skin’s defenses to prevent the entry of pathogenic agents responsible for new bouts of irritation.

The LIPIKAR BAUME AP+ 400ml pump bottle and the  LIPIKAR CLEANSING OIL are new additions to the La Roche-Posay Lipikar range.

The Lipid-Replenishing balm is fantastic. This thick cream is ‘best suited for very dry, irritated skin prone to itching and extreme dryness due to atopic skin concerns’. In other words… me. The cream is beautiful. It absorbs and leaves my skin feeling calm and soothed. It deserves a spot on my list of Body Creams: The best of the best. The 400ml pump bottle retails for R375.

Let’s move on to the hero of the post. The new La Roche-Posay Lipikar Cleansing Oil is hands down the best cleansing oil I have ever used. THE BEST. Holy sheeet it’s amazing!! The oil is soap- and alcohol-free and they say it  protects the skin against the drying effects of hard water. It is lipid-replenishing and that aids in rebuilding the skin barrier. ‘Niacinamide helps to restore the cutaneous barrier, soothe the sensation of tightness and Shea Butter aids intense lipid replenishment.’ Only a small amount of oil is needed as it works up to a lovely lather. It feels great whilst you wash, but it’s when you rinse that you feel it… smooth, soft, hydrated skin. It leaves my skin feeling and looking incredible. It really is so good. If you suffer from similar skin concerns as I do, please give it a try. Please. I know I’m rambling on, but I’m trying my best to get my point across. I will most definitely buy this for myself. Over and over again. The oil retails for R230 for 400ml which I don’t think is too bad as the product lasts very well. That, and it’s fantastic!
