Travel Bucket List: Lagoon Lodge in Stanford

On Saturday I joined fellow bloggers for the #RainMysteryTour. It was a day filled with glorious surprises and treats as well as a chance to learn more about the new Rain Africa perfumes (which I will still tell you about). The venue for our amazing day was the Mosaic Sanctuary in Stanford.

We had a tour of the Lagoon Lodge and since then I have not been able to get it out of my mind. If you are in need of a luxury retreat to completely unwind, the Lagoon Lodge is the ideal place to do just that.

I almost have no words to describe the bathroom. That tub…

Boardwalks lead to the luxurious lounge area where fresh, sumptuous meals can be enjoyed whilst looking over the lagoon or sitting underneath the ancient Milkwoods.

My ideal stay at Lagoon Lodge would most consist of lounging by the heated pool, taking long leisurely strolls…

If you are more adventurous, you can take part in many activities (which are included in your stay) which include kayaking, mountain- and quad biking.

The Lagoon Lodge is definitely a place to add to your travel bucket list. It’s on mine.

My images do this little piece of Heaven no justice at all. For more on the Lagoon Lodge and Mosaic Sanctuary, you can visit them HERE.

Smitten with my Smitten: a Review of the Smart Mitten

I have seen many people on social media going crazy for this pretty, pink ‘waslappie‘ and as a beauty lover, I obviously couldn’t wait to try it for myself. Then I got one in a goodie bag. Score.

What is this Smitten you may ask? It is a microfiber mitten that is said to deep cleanse your skin in seconds using only warm water.

Smitten with my Smitten: a Review of the Smart Mitten

Smitten Smart Mitten review

To be very honest, I was not convinced that using only this mitten and warm water would completely clean my skin. And 100% remove my make-up? Not a chance. A have tried many ‘fancy’ face cloths/flannels and none of them removed my makeup.

They say that it can also be used with your facial cleanser, so I thought that I would definitely be using it that way. And that means that these smart mittens are actually nothing more than a pretty face cloth, right?

WRONG! Boy, was I wrong!

The first time I tried it, I was wearing a full face of makeup which included foundation, powder, blusher, non-waterproof mascara and Maybelline Color Tattoo eye shadow. I wet the Smitten with warm water and gentle wiped my face. Then I held the Smitten over each eye for 10 seconds before wiping away the makeup. GONE. All my makeup was removed. Not even a trace of Color Tattoo or mascara left. I couldn’t believe it. Smitten removed my makeup better and gentler than some of my pre-cleansers. When I looked at the mitt and saw all the makeup covering the pink material, I thought I would have to wash it in the washing machine (which would lead to ruin quite quickly). But I took my Dove soap bar and gentle washed it. Once again… all GONE.

I am totally bowled over by this little mitt. It is amazing. It is soft, gentle, effective and economical. And if you have sensitive skin, I highly recommend it to remove your makeup. The Smitten is now my preferred 1st step of my double cleansing routine.

Please note that there are Youtube videos featuring this mitt where ladies go to town! You DO NOT need to work so rough for this mitt to do its job. Gently does the trick.

There is also a Mens Smart Mitten called Smitt and a Babies Smart Mitten called Smitty. I definitely want to get a Smitty for Cara.

Smitten retails for R99. I think that’s a bargain. Visit Smitten HERE to order online or find a stockist.

This is a 5 star product!
