Cancer.vive is the dynamic awareness and education project of People Living with Cancer (PLWC) – an organisation of people, privileged to have survived cancer and who collaboratively strive to change the face of Cancer in SA.

Cancer.vive believes that knowledge is power and this project aims to create awareness in order to educate and empower South Africans to recognise the symptoms and to seek the appropriate treatment. Cancer.vive also focuses on the so-called ‘shy’ cancers – those that people struggle to talk about freely and often go undetected because of fear, stigmas, cultural taboos and lack of knowledge.

The main event of this campaign is already underway…

RIDING FOR OUR LIVES: CANCER.VIVE RIDE 2014

On 26 September 2014 at 12.30pm, an epic 10-day journey kickstarts at Pretoria Girls’ High School in Tshwane, returning to Gauteng on 5 October after riding more than 2 300km through Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Free State. This is no ordinary joyride; these are motorcyclists with a mission: over 50 cancer survivors, supporters, crew and media will be flying the Cancer.vive flag to bring education and a message of hope and inspiration to over 10 000 people – they are living proof that cancer can be beaten.

You can help this amazing cause:

You may pledge a donation by simply SMSing the name of any survivor to 42356. The SMS will cost you just R30. (If you don’t know a survivor, you may SMS your own name).

Follow the ride, help raise awareness and send messages of encouragement to the riders and people living with cancer on TwitterFacebook and Instagram or visit Cancer.vive to learn more.
