Dermaceutic Mask 15 – the BEST mask for oily skin

Did you notice that I used the word ‘best’ in the title of this post? That isn’t a word that bloggers use often; or at least I don’t. As a beauty lover and blogger I am lucky to get exposed to and learn about so many brilliant products and brands, that it is extremely difficult to claim that a specific product is the best out there. There are also so many that I still want to try. I just don’t have enough skin (or the budget) for it. BUT this mask has proven to be the most effective mask I have ever used. Today I share my thoughts on the Dermaceutic Mask 15.

But first a little bit more about why skin care should be a first priority and my own skin concerns.

Skin care posts don’t seem to get nearly as many hits as the make-up posts on my blog. Not sure if other beauty bloggers find it the same. This is a shame. Don’t get me wrong, I love make-up. I really do. Caring for your skin should be your main concern though. Healthy, bright, glowing skin is what we all want. And no make-up will achieve that if you are not caring for the skin underneath. That means that you have to cleanse, exfoliate and protect your skin. Unfortunately we have not all been blessed with a perfect complexion. And some (read: me) have not taken the best care of our skins in the past. I wish I knew the effect that the sun, using incorrect products and going to bed with my make-up on would have on my skin. Youngsters, wisdom comes with age… don’t make the same mistakes I did.

My main skin care concerns are pigmentation and enlarged pores. My pores are very visible and they become clogged no matter matter I do. Regular skin peels have been my only saving grace to effectively treat these little oil wells in the past. Unfortunately I am not in the financial position to go for regular peels anymore and I have to rely on home care products to sort the little buggers. I have tried countless masks over the years that have done a good job of deep cleansing my skin. Many of these I’d recommend and still use. But none have done what this mask has been able to…

Dermaceutic Mask 15 – the BEST mask for oily skin

Dermaceutic Mask 15 - the BEST mask for oily skin

Dermaceutic Mask 15 is an oil reducing mask that targets oily and acne-prone skin. This astringent clay mask removes dead skin cells, purifies the skin and removes excess oil. This sounds like the description of most clay masks, but take note: it contains 15% Glycolic Acid. 15%! That is powerful stuff. It also contains Salicylic acid which further aids in the exfoliation process and Bentonite which is a highly absorbent clay. So basically, this mask contains ingredients that penetrate the pores, loosen all the nasty stuff and then suck out the gunk. And trust me it does. You can actually see it.

Dermaceutic Mask 15 leaves my skin clearer and brighter than any other at home mask I have ever tried. Honestly, this mask is just as effective as some of the professional salon peels I had done years ago (please note that I said years ago; salon peels have come a long way). The condition of my pores have improved – they appear smaller and breakouts are now few and far between.

Please take note to use this mask only as directed as it really is potent. Apply a thin layer and leave it on for only 2 to 4 minutes. I’d suggest that you start with 2 and only increase the time if your skin reacts favourably. This mask is also only recommended for use once or twice a week. Don’t be stupid if you have sensitive skin like I have. I didn’t time my applications at first cause I’m all tough and stuff. I was like ‘bring on the burn’ (yes, the mask is very active and you will feel a tingling) and my skin was very sensitive the next day. Now I’m a good girl and only use it as directed and I could not be happier with the results.

Apart from the fact that this mask provides real results, I also love that it does what it’s suppose to in no time flat. Quick and easy. It will also last you extremely well. I took this pic this morning:

Dermaceutic Laboratoire Mask 15 Oil reducing mask

I have been using this mask for a couple of months and I have only skimmed the top of this 50ml pot.

The RRP is R700. I know this may sound steep, but it is worth every cent. If in doubt, please refer to all of the above.

This is truly a breakthrough product for me and I highly recommend it. Note that normal skin types can also use this mask. Once every two weeks will work wonders for you too.

Dermaceutic Laboratoire has truly become one of my favourite skincare brands. Their products are highly effective. You can also have a look at other Dermaceutic products that I’ve had the pleasure of using HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.

Dermaceutic Foamer 5 Gentle Exfoliating Cleansing Foam

Dermaceutic is a brand that has not ceased to impress. I recently finished a bottle of their Dermaceutic Foamer 5 Gentle Exfoliating Cleansing Foam and I am so happy with the product.

Dermaceutic Foamer 5 Gentle Exfoliating Cleansing Foam

'Skin is encouraged to renew itself faster making it look fresher, keeping it hydrated and looking younger.'
‘Skin is encouraged to renew itself faster, making it look fresher, keeping it hydrated and looking younger.’

Foamer 5 is an exfoliating cleanser that is recommended for dry and sensitive skins with dull complexion, irregular texture and skin imperfections. It contains 5% Glycolic Acid to exfoliate and remove impurities, and Enoxolone which is an anti-inflammatory agent known for its soothing and calming properties.

The cleanser is a very light and airy foam which comes in a simple pump bottle (win!).

Foamer 5 leaves my skin beautifully clean and soft and after a couple of uses I noticed that my skin was smoother and more radiant. I was worried (even though I love me some acids) that the Glycolic Acid could be a bit drying and harsh on my sensitive skin, but it proved to be anything but. I never experienced any stinging or sensitivity and it didn’t ever leave my skin feeling dried out or stripped. And I used it daily. My skin was just clean, smooth and radiant.

Foamer 5 retails for R450 and I highly recommend it.

Whilst getting all my facts straight about Foamer 5, I noticed that Dermaceutic also has a Foamer 15. This cleanser (obviously) contains 15% Glycolic Acid and is recommended for oily, congested and acne prone skins. This also sounds like a winner and I would recommend acne sufferers give it a try.

A product that I am very keen to try is the Mask 15 which also contains 15% Glycolic Acid.  It is also recommended for oily, congested and acne prone skin and can be used once or twice a week. It can also be used for normal skin once a week or once a fortnight. I need it as it is said to be a skin refining mask that helps to reduce pores and blackheads (I hate my pores). Keep this one in mind next time you are mask shopping.
