I love the chillier weather of late and I can’t wait for the rain, grey skies, chilling by the fire and snuggling up with a good book (read: TV series). Cara definitely does not feel the same. She is 4 and happiest when running around outside. It has become quite a challenge to keep her entertained when we are cooped up inside. I don’t want to just prop her in front of the TV. Mom also needs a break from Dora. Here is where Acornkids comes to the rescue. They provide a range of fun and creative activities to keep little minds and hands busy.
Acornkids makes learning fun
Acornkids has a unique range of bath products, books, puzzles and crafts that transforms anytime into an opportunity for FUN learning.
Childhood is a magical time of discovery and learning. Acornkids strive to provide kids with products that will grab their attention and provide a fun multi-sensory hands-on, minds-on experience. Their products promote open-ended, child-led and non-directed play, and old-fashioned play values to make every day a fun learning day. These amazing toys, books, puzzles and crafts encourage discovery, inspire imagination and enhance essential learning skills.
Acornkids’ vision is to magically transform each day into learning, growth and exploration.
Acornkids designs products to encourage interactive creative play. Unique and innovative, the products develop sensory skills, and stimulate young minds with fun.
What I love most about this brand is that they encourage free play. I feel there is just way to much pressure on kids to perform these days. Cara is 4 and we have homework to do every weekend which mostly consists of tracing patterns, letters and numbers. I feel it’s a bit too soon. It is not our amazing school’s fault though… they want to make sure that our kids perform at the level that is expected from them when they reach primary school. But what happened to developing fine motor skills by just playing with clay, beads, etc like in my day?
Acornkids has a range of craft products that I will most definitely be getting for Cara ASAP so that we can work on those fine motor skills in a fun and creative way… have a look:
Push ‘n Pull Putty
Push ‘n Pull Putty is a modelling compound that provides your children with endless hours of imaginative play. Push ‘n Pull Putty creates a wonderful tactile and sensory experience for youngsters as they feel, squeeze and mould the putty.
This non-toxic putty comes in a variety of colours and is perfect to encourage creativity. It also encourages hand/eye coordination, promotes literacy and numeracy concepts as well having a calming and therapeutic effect (sounds perfect for my busy bee). Price: R14.20 (per 90 g tub).
Acornkids Angel Powder
A unique, fun and educational colour powder designed to change the colour of water, while teaching children to experiment with combinations of colour.
Angel Powder will help your little one learn about primary colours and colour mixing. Each colour also has a different fruity scent. This non-toxic powder is also suitable kids with sensitive skin or eczema. Price: R30.50 (per 125 g tub).
Acornkids Snow Dough
Snow Dough is an amazing moulding mixture that can be used in many creative ways to stimulate minds and improve co-ordination skills.
Snow Dough is soft and gooey and looks like so much fun to play with. It is soft on application, but air dries and hardens over 3 to 4 hours. Little hands can mix the colours, mould the dough into anything they want and also combine Snow Dough with other mediums to create something new and unique. It sounds great for school projects too. Snow Dough is available in 250ml tubs and sells for R30.50.
Also look out for the Snow Dough and Mosaic craft kits. The kits include everything you need to create these cuties:
