Dermalogica Hydrablur Primer review

I was really in two minds about posting this review. I prefer to only post about products that I really like and that I would spend my own money on. I am still not sure if I would fork out R850 for this, but stick around and you can decide for yourself.

Dermalogica Hydrablur Primer Review

Dermalogica Hydrablur Primer Review

Let’s start off with what they say:

Lightweight, non-greasy primer minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, mattifies against oily shine and imparts a silky, luminous finish to skin. H2ORelease™ Complex and Abyssinian Oil help provide intense, sustained-release moisturization that locks in optimum hydration levels. A microencapsulated tint releases upon application to provide neutral coverage while Whu-Zhu-Yu Fruit Extract enhances skin radiance. Naturally-astringent Mushroom Extract reduces pore size and appearance. Formulated without artificial fragrances, colors or parabens.

I received this primer shortly after it launched and I have to say, I was totally underwhelmed after the first use. It felt great on my skin, yes, BUT R850?! It did a good job blurring fine lines and making my pores look a little less huge, but I really didn’t think it was worth that price tag. It also didn’t mattify as much as I hoped. This was in March of this year while we still had lovely warm weather. And my skin could be classified as combination to oily.

Then winter arrived with one moerse bang and my skin didn’t know what hit it. All of the sudden my face was tight, dry, sensitive, scaly and blotchy. Not a pretty sight. (Keep an eye out as the products that saved my skin will be on the blog shortly). My forehead was so dry that when I scratched it (I know, I know!), I could see the flakes fallen to the floor. Super sexy.

I tried the primer again, and voilà, results.

On my dry skin Hydrablur worked like a charm. My skin appeared smoother and my foundation application was even. Currently I’m using it every day.

In short, would I recommend it… maybe.

If it fits your budget, and you are struggling with dry, patchy and flaky skin, give Dermalogica’s Hydrablur Primer a shot.

Have you tried Hydrablur? I’d love to know what you think.

Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque Review

Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque

Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Mask Review Pretty Please Charlie

Fast-acting, easy-to-remove masque rescues tired, lackluster or dull skin. Activated Binchotan Charcoal powerfully adsorbs impurities while Sulfur promotes cell turnover for dramatically brighter skin. Volcanic Ash, Sea Silt, Bamboo Extract and alpha hydroxy acids further accelerate skin brightening with dual-action exfoliation. Niacinamide helps reduce congestion and calm the skin while Chilean Wild Mint helps refine pores. Formulated without artificial fragrances, colors or parabens.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?! And it is. I think my pic is evident that I really enjoy using this mask.

What I love most about it is that it’s an all-in-one. It detoxifies, brightens, invigorates, exfoliates plus it fights ageing, breakouts and sensitivity. I swear Dermalogica had my skin in mind when they made this beaut.

The Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque is suitable for all skin types, but if you have dry skin, they recommend to keep it on for about 7 minutes. Honestly, I didn’t know about the 7 – 10 minutes recommendation and I just leave it on till it’s completely dry.

My skin feels soft and smooth and looks clear and bright after every use. I used it on Saturday just before I applied my makeup for a wedding, and my skin looked amazing.

The Dermalogica Charcoal Rescue Masque is not cheap, but I think it’s worth every cent of the recommended retail price of R790.

Well done Dermalogica!
