Dermaceutic Activ Retinol 1.0 Review

Dermaceutic Activ Retinol 1.0 is an anti-ageing serum that packs a punch. If you are serious about skin care and looking for an anti-ageing product that really works, this is the one to invest in.

Dermaceutic Activ Retinol 1.0 Review

Dermaceutic Activ Retinol 1.0 supports natural cell regeneration and reduces the appearance of signs of skin ageing. This powerful serum is recommended for the treatment of the loss of skin tone, wrinkles, fine lines and dull complexion.

So, what exactly is in this orange liquid that makes it so effective?

1% Retinol Complex
Improves the appearance of dry, aging or damaged skin.

1% Pure Vitamins C & E
With renowned antioxidant properties, this combination of vitamins combats the signs of photoaging and limits their appearance.

1% Ceramides, Panthenol, Allantoin and Mineral Cocktail
Hydrating and nourishing actives which reinforce the skin barrier and intensely hydrate skin.

Why Retinol?

When retinol and other retinoids come into contact with skin, enzymes in the body convert the retinol into retinoic acid, the active form of the vitamin. This is the unique ingredient that goes to work on skin cells in a variety of helpful ways. Namely, retinoic acid works to increase cell turnover, stimulate collagen and elastin production, fade hyperpigmentation, and help skin stay hydrated and glowing without irritation. Thanks to all this healthy turnover, retinol can treat and prevent everything from stubborn cystic acne and eczema to sun-induced wrinkles and dark spots. Dermaceutic’s Activ Serums have the highest percentage of retinol that is safe to use daily on the skin.

This unique combination of high performance actives makes this a very potent cocktail, and I promise you, it really works.

I must warn you that Retinol can irritate sensitive skin and you should not overdo it when you incorporate it in your skin care routine. It may be better to start off with a lower dose, and Dermaceutic’s Activ Retinol 0.5 is perfect as it is recommended for normal and sensitive skin.

Even though my skin is sensitive, I tend to be a little impatient and I can sometimes go a bit overboard. I started out with 1.0 and I applied it every day when I received it. That caused a bit of redness and a little peeling (nothing major), so I toned it down and used it every second day. My skin got used to it very quickly and I now use it once a day.

Result: smoother, brighter and more even-toned skin. Really. I noticed positive results within the first 10 days of using this serum.

I am running low and I dread the moment this gorgeous bottle runs dry. It really is worth every single cent.

Dermaceutic Activ Retinol 1.0 retails for R924.

Dermaceutic Foamer 5 Gentle Exfoliating Cleansing Foam

Dermaceutic is a brand that has not ceased to impress. I recently finished a bottle of their Dermaceutic Foamer 5 Gentle Exfoliating Cleansing Foam and I am so happy with the product.

Dermaceutic Foamer 5 Gentle Exfoliating Cleansing Foam

'Skin is encouraged to renew itself faster making it look fresher, keeping it hydrated and looking younger.'
‘Skin is encouraged to renew itself faster, making it look fresher, keeping it hydrated and looking younger.’

Foamer 5 is an exfoliating cleanser that is recommended for dry and sensitive skins with dull complexion, irregular texture and skin imperfections. It contains 5% Glycolic Acid to exfoliate and remove impurities, and Enoxolone which is an anti-inflammatory agent known for its soothing and calming properties.

The cleanser is a very light and airy foam which comes in a simple pump bottle (win!).

Foamer 5 leaves my skin beautifully clean and soft and after a couple of uses I noticed that my skin was smoother and more radiant. I was worried (even though I love me some acids) that the Glycolic Acid could be a bit drying and harsh on my sensitive skin, but it proved to be anything but. I never experienced any stinging or sensitivity and it didn’t ever leave my skin feeling dried out or stripped. And I used it daily. My skin was just clean, smooth and radiant.

Foamer 5 retails for R450 and I highly recommend it.

Whilst getting all my facts straight about Foamer 5, I noticed that Dermaceutic also has a Foamer 15. This cleanser (obviously) contains 15% Glycolic Acid and is recommended for oily, congested and acne prone skins. This also sounds like a winner and I would recommend acne sufferers give it a try.

A product that I am very keen to try is the Mask 15 which also contains 15% Glycolic Acid.  It is also recommended for oily, congested and acne prone skin and can be used once or twice a week. It can also be used for normal skin once a week or once a fortnight. I need it as it is said to be a skin refining mask that helps to reduce pores and blackheads (I hate my pores). Keep this one in mind next time you are mask shopping.
