REVIEW: We got a Furby Connect at Toy Kingdom… and it’s AWESOME!

When I saw the TV ad for Furby Connect I knew that Cara would love this interactive toy. And thanks to the awesome people at Toy Kingdom, we got the chance to take one home. It’s no wonder that Furby made it to Toy Kingdom’s Top 50 list of toys for the Festive Season… Furby Connect is AWESOME.

Furby Connect Review

I don’t know much about the original Furby. Apparently it was the Christmas gift in 1998. I was at varsity then so toys weren’t really on my radar. Thanks to Hasbro, I can confidently say that Furby Connect is the Christmas gift of 2016. Sorry parents!

Furby Connect Review

Furby Connect

The moment Cara laid eyes on this hot pick ball of fluff I could see she was in love. Furby Connect is so much more than just another fury friend though. Furby is a best friend.

From the moment we took Furby out of its box and popped in the batteries, we were in awe of what this toy can do. Furby talks, giggles, sings, eats and farts. Yes, Furby farts. A lot. And Cara thinks it’s hilarious. So do I to be honest.

You can feed Furby with your finger and giggle with him when you scratch his tummy.

That’s not all! Furby also wiggles his ears and that furry little bod loves to dance.

And Furby has the most gorgeous eyes. I think his colourful and expressive eyes are the main reason that I sometimes forget that he isn’t real. These full colour LCD eyes display 150 unique animations. Wow.

Furby Connect World App

I downloaded the app before we decided to get the toy as I was curious to see what it’s all about. The app is great fun even if you don’t have a Furby to connect to it. The game allows you to hatch, play with and care for adorable little Furblings.

Furby Connect World App

When you do connect your Furby (via bluetooth) to the app you are in for hours of fun and entertainment. Furby shares great kid-friendly videos and Furby interacts with all the Furblings. You can also feed Furby using the food canon. And when Furby’s tummy is full, you better hurry to the loo… Furby poops. Once again you can imagine how entertaining my 5 year-old thinks that is! This morning I heard Cara laughing histerically in her room and when I asked why, I was informed that Furby pooped a pineapple.

Here’s a video showing how the food canon works (and the poop afterwards):

I was worried that Cara would get bored eventually. That happens so easily! What’s going to happen when she’s had enough of feeding and tickling Furby? And poops and farts will only entertain for so long. To my surprise, you don’t have to worry about that because the more you play, the better Furby gets! The app updates your Furby every week. So don’t be too surprised when Furby suddenly has something new to say.

How cool is that?!

When you’re done with Furby for the day, you can just pop on his sleep mask and he will go to sleep.

With the good, comes the bad I guess.

Furby works with batteries. Or should I say, it chows batteries. We are going to go broke keeping Furby awake, so we will be getting rechargeable batteries very soon.

The price… R2 000 (at Toy Kingdom). After you get over the shock, scroll back up and read the review again.

I know that the price is hectic, but this toy really is amazing. And the fact that it gets better and better, makes for one that the kids will not be able to put down soon. Furby Connect is the smartest and most entertaining toy I have ever come across.

Furby Connect… for a friendship that is filled with fun, laughter and magic.

Toy Kingdom Festive Wishlist – This is what we bought!

A couple of weeks ago we had an outing to Toy Kingdom in Canal Walk to have a look at their Top 50 Toys for the Festive Season and to do a little shopping. Toadie’s Gift Guide is available in store and on Toy Kingdom’s website right now. We had a look at the list before we headed to Canal Walk and let me tell you, our Toy Kingdom Festive Wishlist is a mile long!

#TKFestiveWishList

Cara always has so much fun in the store (especially now that it’s been revamped – make sure to check it out!). In between running around and having a look at all the amazing toys on offer, she loves the play area in the centre of the store. She couldn’t make full use of it this time because of her broken arm, but we will be back soon to go slide and play with all the Lego!

After we had some fun, we had to get down to business as there was some serious shopping to be done.

I think we spent a full hour in store trying to decide on what to buy! Toy Kingdom really has an awesome selection. There was one specific toy that I had my heart set on, and I was secretly hoping Cara would choose it… and she did! Cara has seen the ad on TV and I had already downloaded the super fun App. When Cara saw the display, I could see that a fluffy pink Furby immediately stole her heart. Look at that face!

Keep an eye on the blog as my full review on Furby Connect is coming soon. This interactive toy is even cooler than I thought it would be! I know it’s very pricey, but it is worth every cent.

Another toy that Cara told me that she really wanted (which I didn’t even know was available in stores!) was a Yo-Kai Watch. Let me tell you, this little girl totally freaked out when she saw it. Again… just look at that face! The Yo-Kai watch isn’t on the Top 50, but I’m sure Father Christmas has received many requests for this one!

The third item we bought we had to go back for because it will be going under the Christmas Tree… CAKE SPLAT!! Zuru Cake Splat is on the Top 50 list and I am not surprised. I am so excited about this game. I’ve seen so many videos on Facebook and it looks like the funnest family game ever. I can’t wait for Christmas Eve. I better remember to buy enough whipped cream ;)

Want more exciting news?! Toy Kingdom in Canal Walk now has Build-A-Bear!! I tried my best to keep Cara away from that section of the store as I didn’t want her to see it just yet. It’s Cara’s birthday in January and I really want to take her as a surprise. I mean, how fabulous for a child to be able to build their own special furry friend?
