Sorbet Pore Your Heart Out Facial Cleanser Review

In 2014 I attended the launch of Sorbet’s skincare line and the Sorbet Pore Your Heart Out Facial Cleanser caught my eye. I love gadgets and I finally treated myself to one 3 weeks ago. And I’m so glad I did.

Sorbet Pore Your Heart Out Facial Cleanser Review

I love facial cleansers. The Foreo Luna is spectacular, but I also like a brush with bristles. The other one I had (it has seen better days) had a rotating silicone brush head that I loved.

The Sorbet Pore Your Heart Out Facial Cleanser sports quite a few features that convinced me to buy it (it didn’t take much though) …

Pore Your Heart Out Facial Cleanser Review

  • The cleanser isn’t big and bulky
  • It comes with 3 brush heads
  • The cleanser comes with a stand
  • It’s water resistant
  • It charges with a USB – no batteries
  • Clockwise & counter clockwise rotation

Now for the most important bit… the brush heads.

The cleanser comes with 3 brush heads (from left to right):

The Exfoliating Brush, the Sensitive Silicone Brush and the Daily Cleansing Brush.

I’m not sure who was in charge of deciding on the purpose of each brush, but I don’t agree with them at all.

I prefer to use the Sensitive Silicone Brush for every day cleansing. Daily cleansing with a brush can irritate your skin, so this one is most definitely the one for every day.

The Daily Cleansing Brush is way too harsh for use every day. I also find it to harsh for exfoliation. If you use the cleansing brush every day anyway, there is not much need for additional exfoliation. I threw mine in the bin.

The Exfoliating Brush is lovely and I use it once or twice a week to deep clean my pores. The bristles is cut to different lengths and even though they are very soft, they give a really good deep cleanse. You can also use this brush every day as it’s a lot gentler on your skin than the Daily Brush.

The best part about these brushes… replacements cost only R50!!

Another issue I have is the storage function of the stand. You can store two brush heads in the stand and that’s great, but one of them needs to be the silicone head. That doesn’t help me much as I use the silicone brush head most often.

The brush is very well priced at R330 and I don’t think you’ll get quality like this at a better price. I bought mine at Clicks just before their most recent beauty fair and I lost out on a 20% discount. Keep an eye out for their awesome sales!

This brush was one of my best buys in a long time!

Let me know if you tried the Sorbet Pore Your Heart Out Facial Cleanser. I’d love to know what you think!

La Roche-Posay Lipikar Stick AP+

I discovered the La Roche-Posay Lipikar range last year and Lipikar truly is a sensitive skin saviour. If you suffer from dry, sensitive, eczema-prone skin, you have to try this range. I promise you, you will not be disappointed. La Roche-Posay has added something new to their range and it’s a product no one should be without this winter – the La Roche-Posay Lipikar Stick AP+.

La Roche-Posay Lipikar Stick AP+

This 15ml stick has been formulated for atopic eczema-prone skin, itchy skin, irritated skin and dry, patchy skin. Its aim is to instantly relieve scratching urges and reduce eczema lesions. Even when you’re on the go.

The stick contains lipid-replenishing shea butter, anti-inflammatory madecassoside and anti-bacterial zinc gluconate.

It is safe to be used on any part of the body (including the eyelids – a fact I can confirm) thanks to its high-tolerance formula and it’s gentle enough to use on babies from 3 months.

This little stick is an absolute beauty It’s change of season and my allergies are acting up. This means eczema flare-ups on my body and dry patches on my face. La Roche-Posay has provided me with the perfect product to soothe and calm the irritation on contact. It also helps to hide the scaly bits on my face and makes my make-up look a lot better. It is also very soothing for the skin between the nose and lips that gets inflamed because of constant nose blowing. It’s gorgeous for the lips too.

If you take one thing from this review though … as much as I love it for myself, this is an absolute MUST for kids suffering from eczema. The La Roche-Posay Lipikar Stick is easy to use, small enough to pop in a school bag, it doesn’t transfer to clothes and all you feel when it’s applied, is relief. If you have kids that suffer, please give it a try.

The stick retails for R170 which sounds like a lot for 15ml, but it’s going to last.
