Dermalogica Clear Start Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask

Holy hell that’s a name and half, isn’t it? At least the name tells you exactly what it does. And boy, it does it well. I bought the Dermalogica Clear Start Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask last year and my pores love it.

When I read reviews of this mask just after it launched, I knew I had to give it a try. My pores are like little oil wells and that means that I suffer from congestion and blackheads. And I mean I suffer. Especially in summer. I picked up the mask at the new Dermalogica Concept Store in Tygervalley when they had their 20% off Black Friday sale. I would love to say ‘skin first’, but let’s be honest; it’s budget first. In saying that, I was quite surprised how affordable this mask is compared to other Dermalogica products. I don’t think that R329 for a 50ml Dermalogica product is bad at all! Anyway, on to the mask.

The Dermalogica Clear Start Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask contains:

  • Sulfur which provides anti-microbial benefits to help keep skin clear.
  • Kaolin Clay which absorbs excess oil and purifies the skin .
  • Apple Fruit Extract to help hydrate the skin.

What about the fizz? That’s what I was most curious about. When you apply the mask, it starts to ‘fizz’ or oxygenate to aid in clearing pores and to facilitate blackhead extractions. And it works.

Blackheads be gone!

Okay, maybe not gone, but at least this mask keeps my skin clear and clean.

Ideally this mask should be used 2 – 3 times a week and only applied to the areas you need to target as it can be a tad drying.

How does it feel on your face, you ask? This is the most irritating product I have ever had on my skin. Even more than sheet masks! Oh my word, it takes all my strength not to scratch my face as those little popping bubbles tickle.  It’s excruciating. Haha! Thank goodness you only need to keep it on for 3 – 5 minutes.

In summation …

Got blackheads? Try Dermalogica Clear Start Blackhead Clearing Fizz Mask. It’s awesome.

Facial oils for all seasons

Facial oils are one of my preferred skincare products and today I would like to share my current favourites with you.

Facial oils for all seasons

Regular readers of my blog will know how much I love a good facial oil. Oils are usually my go-to skincare product during the harsh winter months. As my skin seems to go from dry to oily almost over night when the weather gets warmer, I tend to pack my oils away.  My skin often craves the nourishment of a skin oil during summer too, and finally I have found facial oils for all seasons.

Dr. Dermal Omega Skin Oil

I still stand by my words from the review I posted in 2016:

The Dr. Dermal Omega Skin Oil is the best facial oil I have ever used. The BEST. While there are many face oils that I like, even a few that I love (for various reason), I have found my holy grail skin oil for winter.

BaoCare Acne SkinCare

I couple of weeks ago I got the opportunity to try the BaoCare Acne SkinCare Boabab Facial Oil. I realise I am a tad (okay, a lot) older than the target market for this oil, but I suffer from terrible breakouts come season change, so I thought I’d give it a try.

Baobab oil has a unique fatty acid profile with exceptional quantities of Omega 6 and 9 necessary to maintain elasticity, soften and smooth the skin and naturally regenerate new skin cells.  Baobab oil is naturally anti-inflammatory helping to sooth inflamed, problem skin.

The organic wild harvested Baobab oil in BaoCare™Acne SkinCare provides the necessary hydration to promote healing.  Boosted by Tea Tree oil, Calendula and Evening Primrose oil, this expertly formulated blend is anti-microbial and contains high levels of linoleic acid to help balance sebum production.

This is a beautiful oil and I highly recommend it if you have oily skin.  This facial oil is available in 50ml (R170.00) and 10ml (R44.00)  and can be purchased at all good independent health shops, Wellness Warehouse and online at www.faithful-to-nature.co.za as well as at www.baocare.co.za.

African Extracts Daily Repair Facial Oil

My best friend recommended I try the African Extracts Daily Repair Facial Oil and I am so glad I did. I was expecting this oil to be heavy as it’s aimed at older skin, but it is surprisingly light. So much so that it makes for a great facial oil for summer. This beaut contains Bio-Active Rooibos, vitamins and essential oils of geranium, German chamomile, rose, lavender and neem seed. African Extracts Daily Repair Facial Oil calms, soothes and treats and retails for only R195. It’s fabulous. Pop over to www.africanextracts.com to find a stockist.

Happy shopping!
