L’Oréal’s new Age Perfect range

As we age cellular renewal slows down. That’s a fancy way of saying that we all are getting older and more wrinkled. I can remember a friend warning me that everything starts going downhill after you turn 25. I really thought she was just being melodramatic, but alas, she was not. Ai Mar, ek moes maar geluister het. A decade later I wish I could afford botox, but bread on the table seems to be winning, so I reach for lotions and potions to help slow the process. I am not fanatical about it, but I would be lying if I said that my crows-feet and no 11 don’t bother me.

L’Oréal has just released a new skincare range aimed at the 50+ market. Don’t stop reading just yet youngsters. I will be using every last drop of these… read on to see why.

L’Oréal claims ‘Skin regains its new cellular vitality. It’s regenerated, replumped, toned and radiant. Full of life, skin is gorgeous.’

‘Mother cells, the incredible youth source for your skin, don’t fully express their regenerative power. Fewer new cells are created. The skin loses its vitality from deep within. This is visible in a lack of tonicity and radiance.’

There’s a reason I dropped science after Standard 6 so I’m not going to try to make sense of the different oxygen species, cytoplasm or cell nuclei. All you need to know is that this range contains Natecium which is a very powerful antioxidant which protects Mother Cells from free radicals.

This range aims to regenerate, replump and rejuvenate the skin.

Age Perfect Cell Renew Day and Night Creams

When I noticed that this range is aimed at ladies who are 50 yrs and older, I imagined heavy, rich creams that sit on the skin. My combination to oily skin would not like that, especially in this heat. I was pleasantly surprised that the day and night creams were much lighter than I thought it would be. They melt into my skin and my skin really feels pampered after application. I just want to keep stroking my lovely smooth cheeks :) Both creams do a great job at hydrating my skin and my skin feels soft and nourished. I haven’t been using it for long enough to make judgement on the anti-ageing effects of these products, but I can definitely see myself purchasing these for myself.

Age Perfect Cell Renew Golden Serum

This serum is super light and absorbs instantly. It leaves your skin feeling silky and gold Micro-Reflectors counter dullness. This is very subtle, so no worries of looking like a glitter ball.

Age Perfect Extraordinary Oil

Restores Youthful Glow. Formulated with 8 Essential Oils. Luxuriously Lightweight & Non-Greasy.

Love, love, love. This oil smells lovely, sinks into my skin, it feels light, but super moisturising and nourishing at the same time. It contains 8 Essential Oils to treat your skin and the aromatherapy oils makes it an absolute pleasure to use. This facial oil is fabulous and a product that I would buy for myself without a second thought.

If you are looking for anti-ageing products, I would recommend you go and get samples of this range. It really is lovely and not too badly priced at ZAR225 each. And remember, Mother’s Day is around the corner!

xoxo

Beaucience Day and Night Moisture Cream

I am absolutely loving all the amazing local skincare brands that I have been getting to know lately. One that I have been seeing more and more of is Beaucience. Beaucience is a cruelty-free brand who focuses on anti-ageing skincare products for the whole body. Their aim is to minimise and delay the effects of ageing.
Beaucience manufactures environmentally friendly products that contain no chemical contaminants (parabens, toxins and synthetic oils) and are lightly fragranced with essential oils.
They offer a homecare range consisting of male and female anti-ageing and hydrating products, body care products and a baby range (that I most definitely want to try). They also offer shampoo, conditioner and a BB cream. I’m impressed. They also have a full professional range.
All their products contain a botanical called Proteasyl which is derived from the pea. This anti-ageing ingredient is unique to Beaucience.

‘It incorporates natural actives such as Proteasyl, Hydraseptyl liposomes, lotus flower extract, nourishing organic marula, wheatgerm and avocado oils (for effective skin penetration and nourishment) and added antioxidant properties from organic green tea.’

Beaucience sent me their Day and Night Moisture Cream for normal/combination skin from the Botanicals Range. I been using it as a night cream and in the mornings on days when I felt my skin needed a bit of extra moisture. My skin has been exceptionally oily lately.
The cream has a lovely feint scent that quickly disappears. I don’t like facial products with heavy fragrance.
The cream is light and non-greasy, but does a great job at moisturising my skin. My skin is left smooth and soothed after application.
The packaging and labelling is simple and pretty. The cream comes in a sturdy thick plastic jar. The only fault that I can find with this product, is that it comes in a pot.
It is a great moisturiser and I am very keen to try more from Beaucience.
The 50ml tub retails for ZAR90 which I think is extremely reasonable.
I also received a couple of samples to try. I’m really enjoying the scrub and the eye gel. The scrub is gentle yet very effective and leaves my skin smooth and glowing. I passed on the sample for dry skin to a friend of mine and she’s loving the moisturiser.
Find them on Facebook or visit their website.
