INOAR BB Cream Range

The moment I saw ‘Beauty Balm’ for hair I knew I had to try it. If you follow my blog, you will know that I am really struggling with my hair and I am on a mission to go from dry and strawy to soft, shiny and healthy.

The INOAR BB Cream range sounded like a perfect range to try as it contains all sorts of natural goodness (like natural oils and omega’s) and I was super excited when I received a travel kit to try.

The range contains high percentages of natural emollients such as Sunflower, Sesame, Linseed, olive and Macadamia and it is rich in Omegas.

The travel kit includes sample sizes of all the products in the range which consists of a shampoo, conditioner, leave-in conditioner, oil and treatment. These kits are available for purchase and it’s a great way to give the range a try before investing.

This range is suitable for all hair types and is said to have the following 9 benefits: softness, instant shine, brightness, anti-frizz, easy blow dry, intense hydration, corrects imperfections in hair shaft, restores and moisturises hair naturally and it is sulphate free (therefor keeping treatment and colour for longer).

I need to add number 10: Your hair smells amazing!

The shampoo is sulphate free and fabulous. I am still getting used to a shampoo that doesn’t foam that much (used to love those sulphates and foam). I used this shampoo on both my and Cara’s hair and I loved the fact that our hair felt soft and smooth when I rinsed the shampoo – not hard and stripped (like a lot of shampoos do). After using this shampoo for only a couple of days, I was convinced that sulphate free is definitely the way to go. Our hair is soft, smooth and on the way to be a lot healthier than it is now.  I really love this shampoo.

The conditioner and leave-in conditioner are both very light yet they effectively soften and smooth my hair. My comb also glides through my hair… knots be gone.

The oil is a combination of oils and silicone and beautifully smooths your hair. I was surprised at how light it is, especially since a lot of the hair oils that I have tried feel very ‘silicone-heavy’. This one does not and I think it will be suitably for very fine hair as well.

My favourite is the hair mask. OMW it’s gorgeous! It leaves my hair feeling soft and smooth and my curls form beautifully after I’ve used it. This mask is a must.

At first glance the range looks very pricey, but the bottles (except the oil) are all 500ml, which actually makes it quite affordable for a salon range.

Why are sulphates in your shampoo such a big deal?

I’ve never really bothered looking at the ingredients on my shampoo bottle, and I usually just grab one off the shelf at the supermarket. But I have dry hair and I highlight regularly and I realised that I need to make a plan – my hair has become so dry and damaged and it looks and feels strawy. I always thought that conditioners and treatments were more important than the shampoo. They are just to clean, right? The cleaner, the better. As long as I take one that’s designed for dry/damaged hair, I’m sorted?

Ehh… no!

I’ve heard many people talking about how bad sulphates are for your hair and I know that most salon brands are sulphate free. So why are they bad?

Putting it VERY simply: sulphates acts as a cleaning agent that dissolves grease and dirt and it boosts foam.

‘A sulphate is a salt of sulphuric acid (gypsum, or plaster of Paris, is probably the best-known example). With shampoo, two particular sulphates are commonly used: sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) and sodium laureth sulphate (SLES)’ – The Daily Mail

The problem is that they can actually ‘over clean’ and strip your hair. This is especially bad for me since my hair is already dry, I have it chemically treated and I wash my hair every day. Yes, I know it’s bad, but I just cannot style these curls if I don’t. I am also experimenting with washing just with water a couple of times a week, but that’s for another post.

I still haven’t made complete peace with the fact that my face wash doesn’t have to make millions of bubbles to be effective. And now I have to believe that a shampoo that doesn’t do the same can actually clean my hair just as effectively?

I am now on a mission to find affordable sulphate free shampoos and give them a go.

According to The Daily Mail this is what I should look out for when reading the label: look for the words ‘sulphate-free’ on the packaging. This will mean that the product is free from sodium lauryl sulphate and sodium laureth sulphate, no matter what other sulphates appear as an ingredient.

I’ll let you know how it goes!

If you have any recommendations, please let me know.
