Loving L’Oréal Lately

While doing my make-up this morning I realised that the bulk of my recent go-to products are by L’Oréal. I am loving all of these at the moment.

Revitalift Magic Blur is an ‘instant skin smoother finishing cream’. I really like this primer. It has a waxy feel to it and once applied my skin feels super smooth and silky and my foundation glides over it with ease. And it does blur my pores! Yay L’Oréal. With the pros come the cons unfortunately. I feel like I have to use more of this product to cover my face than with most other primers, so I don’t think it’s going to last very long. R230 for 30ml.

Nutri Lift Gold Anti-ageing Serum Foundation*.  Love, love, looooove. This super creamy foundation spreads easily, covers very well without looking or feeling heavy, it gives me a slight glow and it lasts very well.  It also claims to have a couple of anti-ageing benefits and a SPF20. The shade I’m using right now is 150 Creamy Beige and it suits my skin tone very well. I haven’t reached for any other foundation over the past couple of weeks and as soon as this one is finished, I’m getting another one. Highly recommended! R235.

UPDATE 20 AUGUST 2015: I cracked the seal on my 4th bottle of this amazing foundation this morning. It is the best drugstore foundation that I have ever used. I have sampled a variety of foundations and BB/CC creams since I first tried this product, but I always go back. It works so well with my sensitive, temperamental skin and even seems to calm my eczema. It works whether my skin decides to be oily or scaly, or a combination of the two. Creamy Beige suits my skin tone perfectly. No orange! In summer I just add a bit of bronzer if I have a tan. Please L’Oréal, I beg you, don’t decide to discontinue this beauty. Ever!

Lumi Magique Pearl Powder*. This one confused me when I received it… from the description on the packaging you get the idea that it is a face powder, but at first glance of the unused product you would think it’s a highlighter. And not a great one because the first time I used it the shimmer was insane (Twilight insane). But, and this is a BIG but… that was only due to overspray. Under that shimmery layer hid a fantastic all-over face powder. It mattifies, illuminates and really does give a healthy glow. This is one great powder and works beautifully with the above-mentioned foundation. I’m using the shade 02 Rose Radieux. Price – R160.

Volume Million Lashes Mascara has knocked Miss Manga from top spot. I am really impressed with L’Oréal’s mascaras. I wanted to review the original Volume Million Lashes that I completely fell in love with when I was sent the product to review, but sadly I had to throw it out due to an eye infection and I was worried that my bug might have crept into the product. That was a sad day indeed. I bought the Extra Black version over the weekend and it seems to be performing not quite as well as the original (I hope it’s only because it’s still brand new). Volume Million Lashes lifts, curls and gives me really great volume. The more coats I add, the more volume I get. And no clumps! The formula is really smooth. This mascara gets two thumbs up. Price – R180.

Any L’Oréal make-up products you are loving lately?

Sun safety with Justine Solartec

Justine’s new suncare range, Solartec Skincare, was launced on 1 September and the range contains all the products you need to protect against the harsh summer rays.

‘Put your best face forward this summer with the new Solartec Age Defence for Face formulated with the advanced SolarTec-3 Technology and a blend of six botanical extracts.’

This range is said to prevent sun damage with UVA / UVB protection, repair 50% of existing cell damage in just 24hours and it protects against free radicals caused by the sun.

SolarTec product range

Solartec Skincare Age Defence for Age SPF30 is a light weight cream that instantly absorbs into the skin. It doesn’t leave any greasy residue and my skin is left with a pretty glow. I think this product will be perfect for all skin types. Normal price – R240 for 75ml.

Solartec Skincare Body Lotion contains a SPF40 and is a water resistant formula. It is not too thick and it doesn’t feel heavy or too greasy on my skin. It did leave a bit of a white sheen and tackiness behind for a little while, but I presume that is because it is water resistant. Once fully absorbed it felt very comfortable on my skin and the tackiness disappeared completely. Normal price – R245 for 125ml.

Solartec Skincare Active Sun Protection Spray SPF50 is my favourite product from the range. It comes in an aerosol spray can and the product comes out as a watery foam. It spreads very well and my skin is left feeling smooth and soft with a beautiful sheen. It doesn’t feel like a sunscreen at all; just a beautiful moisturiser. This is the most comfortable product with such a high protection factor that I have tried to date. I highly recommend this one! Normal price – R230 for 150ml.

Solartec Sunless Tanning Lotion for Face and Body. This product also forms part of the range but I have not had a chance to try it yet. Will let you know if I do. Normal price – R185 for 125ml

The Solartec Lip Shield is a very moisturising balm that leaves a colourless sheen on your lips. This product will definitely be put to good use. Normal price – R98

Solartec Kids Face and Body Cream SPF 50. I have used this product on Cara’s face a couple of times and I am happy to report that it is suitable for sensitive skins. I am really happy with this product and apply it to my little girl’s skin with confidence. The protection factor is very high, it is water resistant, oil-free and has a lovely sweet scent. Normal price – R230 for 75ml.

Solartec Kids Roller Ball for body SPF40. I’ve only tried this product on my arm, but I like it already. The product is turquoise in colour, which helps to ensure that it is spread evenly. Don’t worry… the colour disappears when absorbed.  It is very light, absorbs instantly and it isn’t greasy and heavy on the skin. It also contains some goodness in the form of vitamins, aloe vera and chamomile. This one is going into Cara’s school bag. Normal price – R110 for 75ml.

Well done Justine!

PS All of these are available at very reduced prices till the end of the month so I suggest you hurry. These products are worth it. See Justine’s current offers HERE.
