I’m not really one for ‘window shopping’, but I couldn’t help lusting after quite a few goodies while browsing Retailbox lately. I am really trying my best to take better care of my hair and Retailbox is the perfect one-stop-shop.

These items make my heart skip a beat…

Kerastase Elixir Ultime  – I’ve read a few rave reviews on this hair oil and the packaging just looks so indulgent, don’t you think? R470

L’Oréal Tendresse Shampoo and Detangling Cream. I didn’t know that L’Oréal made hair products for kids. I’m always on the lookout for products to keep Cara’s curls looking great and I’d love to give these a try. R231 and R267

Pureology Strength Cure Restorative Masque. ‘Boosts strength and reduces breakage. Helps protect colour radiance.’ Sounds like just what I need. R305

Paul Mitchell Spring Loaded Conditioner. The name just says it all. I have to try this on our curls. R275

Moroccanoil Hydrating Shampoo. I haven’t tried anything from this brand yet, but from what I’ve heard, this shampoo is a winner. And because its sulfate, phosphate and paraben-free, it’s gentle enough for everyday use. I want. R270

Invisibobble in Candy Pink. Just so cute. R80

Tangle Teezer. I would love to find out how the Tangle Teezer will perform with our curls. I know many say it’s a must-have, but I wonder if it’s worth the hype and the price tag? I so badly want to find out. I would love the Compact Christmas Edition for myself and a Magic Flowerpot for Cara. I mean, seriously… how cute is that? R260

Moroccanoil Curl Control Mousse. After watching the how-to video on this product’s page, this mousse has gone from my ‘want list’ to my ‘need list’. It looks like the perfect styling product for me. R290

Paul Mitchell Neuro Dry. A hairdryer is a hairdryer, right? Well, apparently not. ‘Boasting tourmaline ions for quicker drying, reduced frizz and enhanced shine, the dryer offers 2000W of power, whilst the ‘Clean Filter’ is activated by the SmartSense microchip to ensure optimum performance and efficient styling.’ I think I want to trade Cara’s neon pink dryer (that we’ve been sharing) for this one! R2 500.

Brand Focus: Nimue Skin Technologies

A couple of weeks ago I chatted to Annemarie Retief, the Cape Town Regional Education Manager of Nimue Skin Technologies and I was blown away by her passion for the brand and the products.

Here is a little intro on Nimue:

10420251_10152872826390854_139507318348718398_n

‘The Nimue product range was initially developed in 1994 aimed at the medical market for pre- and post-operative application as well as for advanced results orientated skin rejuvenation treatment by skin care therapists. Nimue has since evolved into a globally recognized brand, primarily amongst leading skin care salons for its innovative formulations and cutting edge technology based on the effective combination of exceptional ingredients with scientifically proven delivery systems.

The treatment formulations deliver optimal concentrations of pharmaceutical grade nutrients, cutting edge antioxidants, superior quality phytoceuticals, peptides and other powerful active ingredients where they are needed most – below the skin’s surface to actively improve skin health and appearance.’

Nimue is globally recognised for its modern skin classification concept (Environmentally Damaged Skin, Hyperpigmented Skin, Problematic Skin and Interactive) and unique philosophy based on four treatment pillars, Rejuvenation, Restoration, Antioxidation and Sun Protection.’

As you can see from the above, a tremendous amount of effort goes into the research and development of every single product to bring the user the most effective product possible. Nimue’s ultimate goal is healthier skin that functions optimally. And this in turn will bring visual results. Nimue also takes great care when choosing the finest quality ingredients for their products…  ingredients that ‘work in synergy to clear, refine and renew the skin down to its deeper layers’.

Another thing that I was impressed with is the fact that most of Nimue’s products come in refill. I don’t think I’ve seen that with any other skin care brand. The ‘outer’ packaging (which is gorgeous by the way) can be refilled which saves you money and is of course much better for the environment.

I tried a couple of samples and I cannot find fault.

The Cleansing Gel is a foaming cleanser (yay!) which lathers beautifully and cleanses deeply, without leaving the skin stripped and it does a great job at removing make-up. It also hydrates and exfoliates. A tiny amount goes a long way. I highly recommend this cleanser.

The Exfoliating Enzyme is brilliant. It is extremely gentle and leaves my skin feeling smooth, soft and looking bright and clear.

I also tried samples of Nimue Day and Moisturiser Plus. Both of these moisturisers feel very soothing, absorb quickly and leave my skin feeling soft and smooth. They are both very hydrating without feeling heavy or oily on the skin.

The product that I am most excited about is the Skin Conditioner. Note that this is not a toner. It is a skin conditioning treatment that promotes skin health restoration.  The benefits include improved texture, clarity and freshness of the skin, acceleration of the skin rejuvenation process, it degreases and cleanses deeply and it has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory benefits. The Skin Conditioner is applied with gauze. This is also new to me and Annemarie explained the reason for this is two-fold. Firstly it saves on product as excess is not absorbed (as is the case with cotton pads) and the gauze further gently exfoliates the skin. I unfortunately can’t really comment on the effectiveness of this product as the samples only gave me about 3 uses, but this is no.1 on my Nimue lust list. I hope to get myself a full size and I will then report back. I have only heard brilliant things about this product.

If you are looking for a change or not happy with your current skin care products, I highly recommend that you go for a Nimue consultation. My sister did, and she is extremely happy with the results.
