Don’t listen to everyone’s parenting advice! It will drive you crazy and probably scare the living shit out of you.
And here I am dishing some out ;)
I gave some advice to an expecting mother on Twitter a while back and, after not getting a reply, I realised that I was being THAT person. I am sure that mommy-to-be is already being bombarded by family and friends. Who am I to tell her not to worry?
I got my fair share of comments from strangers while I was pregnant. My favourite was the cashier at a fast food stall. ‘You are definitely having a boy because you are carrying all your weight in your bum’. No. My ass was huge because I lived on Bovril and white bread sarmies for the first 3 months of my pregnancy. Thanks for pointing out how fat I was. I laugh about it now.
When strangers dish it out, just smile, nod and ignore. And sometimes do the same with family and friends too.
Most advice that you will receive will come from a place of love and concern. Take it, don’t take it. In the end you will make up your own mind anyway.

I try not offer advice but rather share my story but then sometimes it sounds like that is veiled as advice so I just rather say – drink wine, eat chocolate or go to church – whatever works for you.
People think that because I have 4 kids I have all the answers when I really don’t so often actively ask my advice!
