My love affair with John Frieda

I have never been very loyal to any hair care brand. I usually end up buying products on special (I love those 3 for 2 ones). Price has always been one of the biggest considerations when I buy shampoo, conditioner or styling products. This means that I often chop and change brands. This has not always worked so well for me, as I often end up with unused product or curls that do not look the way I want them too. And I don’t give my hair the same amount of TLC that I give my skin. Which doesn’t really make sense as my hair is such a big part of my identity.

All of this has changed since I discovered John Frieda (thanks to Beauty Bulletin).

John Frieda hair care products were developed in the UK and the first John Frieda salon opened in London 30 years ago. Now these products are favourites of celebrities, beauty experts and consumers the world over.

I first tried John Frieda products about a year ago and I have been hooked ever since.

I have naturally curly hair that is very dry. This isn’t helped by the fact that I regularly get highlights. Because my hair is very fine, I really struggle to get my curls looking the way I want them too… finding the right products that smooth and combat frizz without weighing my hair down is no easy feat.

I have used products from both the Frizz-Ease and Sheer Blonde range. Both work brilliantly for me. The shampoos gently cleanse my hair without leaving it stripped and the conditioners soften and smooth without weighing it down. Shampoos and conditioners retail for ZAR95 each for 250ml. I can’t deam this a bargain buy, but it is absolutely worth it.

The Frizz-Ease hair serum is the best I have used, and I have tried many. This serum smoothes my hair without leaving it looking greasy or feeling heavy. They also taught me a trick: apply it to wet hair before applying other styling products. It works! I wasn’t surprised when I learnt that this product landed in Allure magazine’s ‘Cosmetic Hall of Fame’ and was deemed by InStyle as ‘Product of the Decade’. The serum retails for ZAR99 for 50ml. A little goes a long way with this product.

My favourite John Frieda product is the Frizz-Ease Curl Reviver Mousse. No other product defines, shapes and holds my curls the way this mousse does. Love it.  It retails at ZAR99 for 200ml.

Whatever your hair type, needs or concerns, I am sure that you will find a product or two from one of the John Frieda ranges that will work perfectly for you. Have look at their ranges below.

John Frieda is sold exclusively at Clicks in South Africa.
