I don’t know how change of season affects your skin, but mine hates it. The best way to calm my enraged skin during this time, is to go back to basics and use gentle and soothing products. My skin has quite extreme reactions to change of season. My skin goes from healthy and happy to patchy, irritated, enflamed and itchy. It’s not pretty. When this happens, I try to simplify my skin care routine as much as possible.

The E45 Daily Protect Moisturiser
The E45 Daily Protect Moisturiser with SPF 30, UVA and UVB filters is an intensely hydrating cream. It feels very light and soothing and leaves the skin feeling soft and supple. It is designed for dry and sensitive skin, but as it’s lighter than I expected, it may work well when my skin gets oilier in summer too. The cream helps to restore your natural skin barrier, and it will not clog your pores. Win! It’s also suitable for eczema prone skin.
The E45 Face Night Cream
The E45 Night Cream is also a winner. It deeply moisturises and my skin sighs with relief when I apply it after a day of exposure to the elements. This cream is formulated with five deeply nourishing oils and it’s rich in antioxidants. It’s deeply nourishing and soothing. It hydrates, softens, and promotes skin recovery from daily damage.
The E45 Face Foaming Cleanser
I was pleasantly surprised by the effectiveness of this cleanser. It even does a good job at removing your makeup (still best to double cleanse, though!). This light and airy foam cleanser feels like it isn’t doing much when I’m washing my face, but the result is clean, clear and hydrated skin. It reaches deep into pores to remove dirt and impurities without compromising the skin’s natural moisture barrier. The gentle and soothing face wash is perfect for sensitive skin.
The E45 Hydrating Face Serum
The E45 Hydrating Face Serum provides instant hydration and locks in moisture for 48 hours. Its superpower is its clinically proven, triple moisturising complex which includes microalgae to protect skin from drying out in icy winters and dehydrating summers. After application my skin feels hydrated and soothed. This serum is a must for dry, sensitive skin.
The E45 Lips & Dry Spots Balm
The product that I was least excited about, turned out to be my favourite. I thought I would be underwhelmed by the lip and dry skin balm, because ‘a balm is a balm’… I was very wrong. This balm is extremely thick which means it stays put much longer than your average balm. My lips are very dry all year round, and I wake up most mornings with flakiness. When I apply the balm at night before bed, I wake up with hydrated, smooth, supple lips. It’s amazing. It also works so much better than any other balm or barrier cream in my cavalry when winter wreaks havoc. The teenager has been struggling with dry patches on her forehead and her eye lids. This beauty provides instant relief and care. Full marks, E45.
